Who else here watches Discovery Channel show called A Haunting? It's great and scary as heck! I have always been fasinated by spirits and hauntings.

Good show.

Once in a while they'll air the Top 10 Most Haunted Places in the US. One of the top 10 places is called the Bourbon Orleans Hotel in Louisiana. Funny thing is, I stayed there back in '97 and I encountered some strange things there. Didn't find out it was one of the most haunted places until 3 years later. Spooky...

Please Rod, expand on what "strange things" you encountered. I love stuff like that!

The primary thing I remember is I was in the lobby with my brother checking the place out. It was around 1am... We walked over to this staircase which was roped off. Got a really weird feeling while standing near the stairway looking around - we both said to each other something just doesn't seem right. Like an eerie feeling - unsettled energy. Like I said, a few years later oddly enough we were both watching Discovery channel and the top 10 most haunted places was airing. About half way into the show, they talk about Bourbon Orleans hotel, and how it used to be an old civil war hospital (I think that's what it was), and also it was a elementary school. Hotel guests will see soldiers, nuns, etc walking down the hallways. Water in the sink would turn on in the middle of the night. Then they mention the part about the starway in the lobby being roped off because too many strange things occurred there - hauntings... When I heard that, it freaked me out. We never did see any ghosts there, but I did seem to experience a lot of eerie things about the place. Would have loved to run into a ghost while there. It's actually a very nice hotel...

Here's their site which talks about the history of the hotel - of course they mention nothing about it being extremely haunted:

Great story! I work in a hospital and one would expect to see all sorts of strange things going on inside because so many people have died there, but in reality nothing out of the ordinary ever happens. One thing did happen to me one night. It was around 8pm and I was getting ready to leave the hospital, I was walking with a buddy of mine from the orperating room down this long corridor that leads to the employee parking lot. As we are walking we're talking shit about what happend during the day and not really paying attention to our suroundings, mind you, we are the only ones walking this desolate hall. As we reach the end of this long corridor there is a glass door, the ones in which you can see your reflection in it; well this double glass door opens as you approach it. Well, as we approach this glass door my co-worker and I turn our heads to look to see who is behind us. We turn our heads to look back at the same time and as we did this there was not a soul behind us. As we are walking out of the hospital we look at each other and say, did you see that? I say to him yeah, we both described what looked like a man wearing all white and glasses, he was dressed like a nurse, and he was right behind us positioned in a way where his body was in between the both of ours, but walking a few paces behind us. All I know is at that moment I felt cold. It happened so fast, that when we turned our heads to see who was behind us that person was gone. Scary, but that has been the only paranormal experience that I have encountered at the hospital in 5 years. Now my mother is another story, she really has a gift for seing the spirit world. She has experienced so many different things that its not funny. Who else here has experienced anything "strange" please do tell.

My wife likes that show. I'll watch it with her but hate it! It sometimes scares the sh*t out of me! I'm a complete Mary about shows like that, but I love haunted houses, and can deal with real life death without a problem....go figure!

My wife and i love those shows. We watch Taps too sometimes but they are kinda cheesy.

There's no such things as ghosts. Sorry, but the dead do not walk among us and "haunt" places. For that matter there's no "Bigfoot", "Loch Nes Monster" or "Chupacabra" out there and no, we are not being vistited by beings from another world. The mind is a very powerful thing, people see what they want to see. Sorry.....but it had to be said.

On a family vacation about 6 yrs. ago we visited Eureka Springs, AR. This small town is famous, of course, for the springs that it has but it pulls tourists for a completley other reason. In the town, lies an eerie hotel that is called the Crescent Moon Hotel. This hotel was seen on the show Ghost Hunters. While staying there for two nights, two very interesting things happened to us. We had taken their ghost tour that they offer where you go downstairs and tour the morgue to see the kinds of demented things that happened. This place used to be an insane asylum and had a truly demented doctor that like to perform odd experiments downstairs. During the tour nothing big really happened to us. He had a couple of weird feelings and definate temperature shifts while down below. We took a multitude of pictures just to make sure our time there was well documented. Upon getting home my mother heads to Walgreens to process the film. When we get the pictures back we notice something odd lying on the autopsy table. It had the look of an outline of a person. Very faint but definatly a persons outline. The second thing happened on our first night there. It was about midnight when we heard a very strange sound right outside our door. We had been told by the managment that all sorts of weird sounds emit from the hotel at night being its so old. Being told this we just chalked it up to the hotel. The sound kept coming as if it wanted our attention. The sound was of an old gurney type thing. Like the wheels were squeaky and clanking against the lumps in the floor. This went on for about 10 mins before my brother and I got up quietly and crept to the door. We opened the door slowly and the sound immediatly stopped. This was awesome for us because we loved scary stuff so we got a kick out of it. Below is a link to the youTube video of Ghost Hunters....

How do you explain some of the truly weird things that happen, such as what happened to two people (my brother and I) from the story above? Two people experiencing the same thing at the same time has to be something. I refuse to believe that there isn't something else out there that wants to talk and communicate. Maybe it is just pent up energy gathered in one place at one time. Who knows? What I do know, is that something strange happened to us that night and upon getting home, that will probably never be explained.

Cool story lurch! I would have been freaked out! I agree with you lurch, How do you explain some of the truly weird things that happen? Like my co-worker and myself, we both turned our heads to see who was the person behind us was only to realize there was nobody behind us. Maybe if it was just me by myself I would blow it off, but when to people see something without implying anything something from some other place is trying to communicate.
