My christmas humidor

As the years go by, you'll cherish that gift from your Dad more than you know. Congrats on the humidor, and kudos to your Dad for the fantastic conversion...!!!...

Best Regards - B.B.S.

Very nice work. That's a piece that any BOTL would be proud to own, and the fact that it was made especially for you makes it even better. I hope you enjoy it for years to come.

As a Father with a son, the love your Dad showed you in creating this gift is truly from his heart. Enjoy it for the rest of your life and beyond with your children.

What kind of humidification are you going to use in it?

Congrats, your dad did a fantastic job in refinishing it! I'm sure you've already looked into it, but make sure to check the seal on the lid. It's incredibly difficult to get a quality seal without some kind of a notched lip, so it may need a little weatherstripping around the lid to help hold the humidity. Enjoy filling it up!

For humidification I am using beads from cheaphumidors. I have two eight ounce bags in two mesh filter bags (aquarium prefilters), one in the bottom and one in the second tray down. I seasoned it for three days, removed the water dish, then let it sit for a day. In the bottom is a wireless hygrometer and in the top tray is my little adjustable digital unit. The bottom one reads a steady 72 (adjusted) and the upper hygro reads 71 (actual).

I thought I might need a seal for the upper lip but I have to press down a little on the lid to close it all the way because my father made the thickness of the raised portion of Spanish Cedar slightly greater than the square groove cut into the lid.

So far so good (and half full).

I need to be adopted. Nice piece of work there.

That's awesome... Where all did you gather the wood for it?

My father has been doing carpentry for 40 years. He knows all the ins and outs of wood so I'm sure getting Spanish Cedar was no problem for him. After he started construction he decided to make it deeper top to bottom than he originally planned so if you look from the first picture to the second the part below the "drawers" extends lower than the original. The end result was that he ran out of Spanish Cedar and ended up using Mahogany for the tray bottoms. I simply asked him for a box for tobacco stick and he built me something nicer than every other piece of furniture in my house.

So far so good (and half full).

Where are the updated pics?!?!?!

I've got all the sticks arranged by manufacturer right now but eventually when I figure out what I'm doing I'll have to get them arranged by size to use the space more efficiently.

Hey what are those cohibas in the tubes? I have never seen those and I have a good number of General Cigar products. Beautiful humidor BTW and I know it makes it all the better to have recieved it from a family member.

Robusto Crystals, I think it's just a Cohiba Black tubed. Since my B&M sold me one for $14.00 and I enjoyed it and I found them so much cheaper at JRcigar I figred I get the box.

I am amazed and completely jealous, both of the humi and your colleciton.

What a nice gift. Even better than the fact that you needed one is that your dad made it for you.

Nice selection and what a beautiful humidor, your father does very nice work. Congratulations.
