Miele vacuum cleaners?

I've had two Mieles, dating back to 98. First was a Red Star, the second I am not sure of the model, but I was actually able to trade in the Red Star for the current model which is now on year 4. So the intial upfront cost was high, but it the only vacuum I've ever been able to use as a trade in and its the best working vacuum I have found.

We have two corgis. These dogs blow their coats twice a year, and it is amazing how much hair can fall of a small dog. Miele works great on keeping hair in check. It actually quiet enough that we vacuum the dogs when they are shedding.

The price is high, but, like with most things, you get what you pay for.

A friend of mine is absolutely raving about how good Miele vacuum cleaners are. Combination of very powerful sucking, features, ergonomics, and that they are very quiet and well made. I'm wondering if anyone here has personal experience with either the Eclipse or the Capricorn.

I'm finding it a little tough to swallow that any vacuum cleaner can be worth $1,000 (the Capricorn... the smaller Eclipse is about half that). You could hire a mid for a reasonable period of time for that money... so does anyone have experience with either model?

I managed to find these reviews.

We've had two, the first last 10 years and two dogs but my first born sent it down the stairs so we bought a second.

I will always own one and will never buy anything else. I had an electrolux, killed it in a year.

They are that good.
