Messing with the Anti-Smoking Nazis

I discovered a fun game to play with the smoking nazis.

Rode the bus the other day and was smoking my pipe at the stop while waiting. I emptied my pipe a couple minutes before the bus arrived, but I kept my pipe (now empty) in my mouth.

The driver nearly would not let me board the bus. Had to show him that the pipe was empty and unlit. Then it was great watching people as they passed me to get a seat. Waving of the hands to fight off the invisible smoke monster, coughing as if my unlit pipe was choking them to death, giving me the evil eye....it was freaking hilarious!!

I kindly pointed out to a few of them that they were swatting at imaginary smoke and they just about lost it. I should ride the bus more often.

Sounds like fun! Maybe I should pick up pipe smoking (or at least pipe faux-smoking) :thumbs:

Interesting story. In 1921, Jose Capablanca played Emanuel Lasker for the world's chess championship. Capablanca, being Cuban was a cigar smoker. Lasker was a smoke Nazi. They agreed prior to the match that Capa would not smoke. No sooner had they sat down at the table, Capa took a cigar out of his pocket and placed it in his mouth. Lasker flipped out. The referee told Lasker that the cigar was not lit. Lasker replied, " But he threatens to smoke". Capablanca won the match.

I've only heard/read of this happening to one person, but the pipe was a Comoy Grand Slam belge, a nearly irreplaceable pipe.

I imagine we read this particular tale at the same place...

I've seen/heard of others that have had their unlit cigars snatched and thrown on the floor in the local casinos here. It's happened in my presence at one of the establishments where there is an unwritten rule allowing smoking only if your a member of the tribe. It can get quite ugly quite quickly.

Thats great! Sometimes when I see the state of our society (especially in the city) I begin to wonder if I'm a 1900's male living in the 2000's.

I'm thinking the same thing. I'm certainly not particularly violent, but I was well trained and still have pretty good reflexes.
