I dont see it as meddling at all. The US has plans to deal with all kinds of stuff that no one ever hears about. Thats where a lot of our money goes to now, think tanks.
Lets face it Cuba has been a slow motion train wreck ever since the Soviot Bloc cut off the money. The clock has been ticking ever since.
It will collapse after Fidel is gone. No one else could keep it all held together like him, not even his brother. It could very easily turn into another Haiti. I dont think anyone in their right mind would want to stand around and watch that happen. Cuba has very much to gain by going in a differnt direction than communism. At least give some minor free market capitalism a try like China for kripes sake.
Ya gotta hand it to the old guy. He has clung to his ideals through some very dark times in the last couple decades. He's lasted longer than any other Communist Dictator.
The Cuban people dont deserve another 40+ years of poverty so why not plant the seeds of freedom. We kind of enjoy it.
