Here in Buffalo suburbia the front of my house hits low to mid 70s when things get toasty outside. I keep my RH% at 68 or below and checked my cabinet. 7 cigars had beetle infestation.
Good catch to only find 7 cigars. You caught em early. Left unchecked those F'ers would have chomp a lot of tobacco and invited all of their relatives over for the party. If you can see a larve or beetle you can bet there's more unhatched eggs. You can't see them but I assure you they are there.
The very reason for this board was to "Pass" different cigars around for others to have an opportunity to try different smokes. Because the very nature of this involves a lot of different people with different storage viewpoints one can understand why some of us take this very serious. The bombing campaigns that run amuck around here from time to time may contain more of a bomb than one may want. While good storage practice will help in controlling these persistent pest that does nothing for the ones sent from a fellow CP'er who "thinks its OK" to store his/hers cigars at +70.
