Was gonna hold my tongue but my blood is boiling so without further ado...
Funny, in 2003/2004 I pitched a show(see below) called the ManCave to Edelman productions (DIY) as well as other cable and producing interests. I started to develop the show with a Mpls production house (not Edelman) however other business interests arose and I moved out of state. Gee read my "pitch" from 2004" and compare it to their show synopsis on their website. Here is a copy of the "pitch sheet" from 2004. This was registered with the "WGA" at that time. Here you go, if they would have made this show it would not have sucked like what they aired last night. Anyone know a good lawyer? (p.s. I know I cannot sue them, just piss's me off is all.)

THE PITCH
TITLE: The Man Cave
A man’s home is his castle…yeah right.
SYNOPSIS:
At some point in a man’s life, he says enough is enough and he stakes a claim to a room in his house that he can call his very own. Thus begins the transformation from a waste area of the home to the creation of the Man Cave. The Man Cave could be a home theater, home pub, game room etc.
This is a show that is done in a witty, tongue-and-cheek style to differentiate the thinking and needs between men and woman.
GENERAL OUTLINE:
1 hour episode.
2 hosts (think Tim Allen /Matthew Perry humor and personalities) visit a viewer submitted Man Cave each week.
3 segments per episode;
1. The wow factor
2. The how-to factor
3. Each show ends with a Hall of Fame segment. The hosts select a Man Cave HOF winner from viewer submitted video tapes of the Man Caves they have created.
Also, I could see where for 10 weeks the hosts read a viewer story on why a viewer thinks he deserves his very own Man Cave.
The show will then select a winner and the last 3 episodes are the creation of a Man Cave for the winner. (Design, the build, the reveal)
DISTRIBUTION:
HGTV, TLC, Discovery, Spike
BUDGET:
I am a neophyte, but my guess is it would be considered very cost efficient for a 1 hour production. Travel and crew costs are about all that jump out to me.
DEMOGRAPHIC:
Men 25-55 with plenty of cross-over appeal to woman. Women would love to watch a show that highlights and tries to explain why their men are the way they are in regards to their space and toys.
ADVERTISERS:
Electronics, tools, cars and all other men stuff.
