You know, unless you really know what your doing, like this Puff guy appears to, its not as much as you would believe. After hosting/bandwidth fees and time put into the admin side, I would say site like this may pays for a few nights at the bar.

Does anyone else think that it is insane that a place so awesome exists? It seems so improbable, but it is real. I am in awe!

Although I would not have had any hard feelings against Rod if he had sold. While I feel that we (members) owe him, because of all his hard work and effort to keep this place running, I do not think he "owes" us members anything. If he had been presented with an offer he could not refuse due to the financial times and his life circumstances I would not have had any harsh words for him at all. It would have been sad to see him go and interesting to see what happened to CP though.

I feel the same way...although I am new to this crowd a sellout would have said much about the community but more importantly is demonstrates the commitment Rod has made to the success/atmosphere of this forum. I look forward to getting to know the members of this board.
 
i know i havent been very active poster on the site but i have been reading, Im new to the cigar hoby and to the "good life". i cant say much more then the other members who know u allot more then i do and know the forum better then id but thank you for doing what you did. it really shows were your loyaty is

Hey guys, n00b here but actually a member of some of the forums mentioned in Jon's aquisitions. I had a chance to sit down and talk witn Mr. Caputo. He is a very nice guy, personable, and friendly. Of course he is going to try to make money through the website, I think that was a foregone conclusion from all involved. BUT, he has assured me that the site, puff.com will remain free to all members.

Nobody likes change and there has been quite a bit of unrest at some of the sites he purchased. Needless to say, complaining or not, hard feelings or not, puff.com is going to happen with or without the members at those websites that are unhappy. Without going into detail aboout what his vision for puff.com is, I just wanted to say he has nothing but good intentions for the site. He has no intention to crash and burn it. Jon wants it to thrive and be a place where cigar guys like us can go and hang. Pretty much what those sites are now. I see a great opportunity with the advertisers(manufacturers, B&Ms, and online retailers, who will undoubtedly advertise on his site)to bring more to the community, such as contests, trips, interviews, promos, charity events, getting involved with cigar legislation(which I think all sites need to do). Everything that makes this fun for all of us cigar guys. So, I just wanted to add in closing, don't be quick to judge, let's sit back and see what happens, I believe it is going to be a great thing.

Would it be safe to surmise from your screen name that you're affiliated with and have a commercial interest in Puff.com? Is that why you're here to do a little PR? It's ok if you are...just be straight with us and don't pretend to be a disinterested party if you're really not.

I don't believe that anything any member here says will have any material effect on the outcome of Caputo's venture. But based on Caputo's and Lopez's treatment of our grand poo-bah, Rod, I hope you'll understand if some of us bear little affection for them or their endeavor. Personally, I really don't care about Puff but neither do I wish you ill. Your members will decide the portal's fate.

My advice is to go back to Puff.com and do your best to make it a viable, fun place for its members. We're just fine where we are.

I also met Stan and Kevin at Cigar-review and Kevin sold it, should I hate him? How about Stogie at CigarLive, should I hate him? How about the guys at Club Stogie? Should I hate them? I don't get why you can't be well wishers, and optomists when it comes to new things. Jon Caputo has done nothing to you personally, so why do you hate him? Like I said if there is bad blood with Jon and Rod, I am unaware of it.

I guess this is going to cause too much of a hassel, and a shame that when you diagree with someones view the default option is too become a child and start with the insults and name calling. Until later, Please delete this screename. i will reregister lin a few weeks with a different moniker. I don't like to be browbeat for no reason it is childish and uncalled for.

If I made a post on CL about CigarPass, how long do you think it would be up and I would be banned or have my password scrambled?

There are no issues between Rod and Jon except for the lying that Jon did in order to try and make CP look bad. It can be seen if you read the whole thread. I believe he is still waiting for a response from Jon...not that it is expected. Not sure how you are "trying to help us out". :rolleyes:


You obviously don't know how things around here. Usernames and posts are not deleted as they are done on other less reputable boards. Signing up with another username will only have you banned.
