Local B&M rules out non-B&M smokes

I always buy in my B&M. Sometimes I bring one of my own, usually on a special occasion. Like the Packer playoff game I brought in a big fat Opus. My B&M does not even have Opus.I made sure to buy a few sticks before leaving.

That's how I roll and nobody ever yells at me

My favorite place in Houston has a huge selection. I usually find something I want when I come in and don't even have to try to find stuff worth buying.
It's very comfortable and welcoming, and they even have free water or soda for regulars. They've never made a fuss over outside cigars, but that may be because they create an environment where you really WANT to buy.

Seems to be some confusion in the thread. I don't think anyone is saying you shouldn't buy something. The discussion is regarding only being allowed to smoke what you buy there.

So... If I purchased a box of cigars from a local B&M, would it be acceptable to take one of those cigars there to enjoy or is it better manners to just go there and purchase on there to enjoy. Curious to know what the proper etiquette would be.  Thanks

I would ask the owner how he would like to handle your question.  At least then, there is no dispute.

If I were an owner, my policy would be to only smoke what you've bought from me. I'd look the other way for regulars, so far as it wasn't a regular occurrence. Regular being someone who buys frequently, not just hangs out there a lot. My business, it doesn't have to be the same rule for everyone. I'd also bend the rules for anyone polite enough to approach me and explain their situation (I just bought these X cigars, but I'd really like to smoke this special Secret Santa cigar someone sent me).

My B&M owner allows outside cigars to be smoked in his shop. I'm the one who has an issue with that. His shop - his rules.
