Liquor Acquisitions 2023, 2024, 2025

Now this is an interesting pour. Picked it up locally for $30. Triple Distilled and triple casks (bourbon, sherry and chestnut). I have to say - very pleasant combination. A bit of a sweetness and very easy, smooth whisky. I drank it neat and really enjoyed it. It is unique, yet familiar. In my opinion - worth the try, especially at the price.

Sherry kind of day. Laphroaig Sherry Oak Cask Finish and an Arran Sherry Cask.

Used to the Laphroaig, but the Arran looks interesting. Not tried that one yet - had to look it up. Looks to be a newer distillery (1995ish) and seems they have a good process. I'm also interested in their Robert Burns blended whisky. Love to hear your thoughts!

Arran is an excellent brand. The OSWA's have given it the trifecta award as the top value scotch three years running for the Arran 10. Excellent dram for the price. I've gotten five different bottles from them and liked them all. They range between mid 50's to mid 70's in St. Louis. I am not familiar with the Robert Burns blend though. On a side note, I've got a buddy running up to Chicago and hopefully getting me a Kilchoman Sanaig CS at one of the Binnys.

This just looked to interesting to pass up - Three Floyds Warsprite malted whisky I generally like Three Floyds beer, so I was tempted to give this a try

I completely agree with the notes listed on the back of the bottle - vanilla, marshmallow (surprising), toffee, caramel and creme brulee. It was very smooth, and not very spicy. A very nice warm after burn that dissipated pretty quickly. I'm generally not in favor of a heavily peated malt whisky (Scotch) fan, though I do like some of the lighter peated Scotch whiskey's, so this was right up my alley (there was no peatiness to this). Not at all bad for a $40 whisky - much more refined and less Three Floyds "in your face" kinda spirit than I had anticipated...

I didn't know they started distilling too. How was it? I went to Dark Lord day 15 years ago, which was amazing. Everyone was so nice, lots of well aged, bottle conditioned, high ABV beer being shared.
I was shocked to see the whisky's being produced by Three Floyds. There's a Bubblegumhead one as well (it was out of stock). They also had a Gin on the shelves I'm tempted to try.

As far as how it was - pretty damn good $40 whiskey. It's young (4 years) but pretty smooth. I'd buy another bottle...

I enjoy Four Roses. But, I don't remember seeing this before. 🤔
That's usually available at the distillery but is not that common elsewhere.

O -- Four Roses Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky
B mash bill was used which is heavy on rye compared to A. I don't remember buts it's 30 or maybe it's 35% rye (has to be obviously 51%+ corn).
S--straight whiskey
F is the yeast strain and this one is minty and herbal

They had another one there, forgot what was on the label. Going to stop back today and grab one of those as well.

Don’t mind the red circle, but here’s a list of the 10 Four Roses recipes to help you better understand how it might taste.

Both are new to me but have always been a big Crow Royal fan. @thinde thank you for the recommendation I picked up the Cigar Malt.
I really liked the earlier versions of the Dalmore Cigar Malts. They stopped producing it for a short time, and re-introduced it with a bit of a different blend. It’s still very good, but I did like the earlier version much better. I personally am a huge King Alexander fan - but the price is killer lately…

Everything goes though cycles and some will always be better then others. Mother Nature has a way of sending to that.

Tried some of the scotch 👀 ya I'm a whiskey drinker 🤣🤣. I will try it with some cigars and see how it goes. It's got a kick for sure 😳
