Lighter Problems? Try These Tips!

great tips and would not change a thing but will add if you take compressed air and blow out the jets every couple of refils you get a better flame. Works with all the lighters I have from the cheapies to the expensive ones.

Why do torch lighters not work when they get cold? I had left my Blazer in the truck overnight, and of course in WI it's getting down to single digits at night. When I got the lighter in the morning, it wouldn't flame till it warmed up. Is it just because the butane is cold?

Butane simply doesn't burn well at temps below 40*F. Never, ever, buy a backpacking or camp stove that runs on butane, especially if you want coffee on a chilly morning.

Doc.

Doc I'd assume then that that explains why a lighter wont or you shouldn't attempt to light it right after you fill it? Of course the butane gets very cold when dispensed.
