Jfields and i were talking about those 'zen moments' produced by a great smoking experience, and i was curious what great smoking experience ya'll have enjoyed lately?

I have 2 that come to mind: One was a month or so ago, a DC Max #3 that appears to be a OR, nothing special about the scenario, but this cigar absolutely put me in a trance w/ the complexity and burn. Another mini moment was a Opus Robusto i smoked the other night out of a box i've been fighting to keep away from, it was phenomenal, just a flavor bomb and i was absorbed in identifying all the flavors it was firing away. No special scenario, just a special cigar

Seems like these experiences kinda come out of nowhere with cigars you know are good, but not expecting to be blown away by. Unfortunately, my experience with those special smokes you've been hoarding for that special occasion tend to be a bit of a let down.

What say you?

Last week I had smoked a camacho corojo and the following night a camacho select. Both were average smokes. On the third night I lit up a Pepin Blue label. From the moment I pulled it out of the humi and put it to my nose I knew it was going to be a memorable smoke. The pre-light spice on my lips was a step above anything I had smoked in a while. The flavor and spice remained throughout the smoke, I planned on watching a movie but I never turned it on. I just sat back and really savored every last puff. While I do have some premium smokes in my humi, this was an example of reasonably priced smoke really surprising me.

That Opus Super Belicoso from 2004 was awesome last night Frank. The wife was at school, and the kids were in bed. I paired it with a nice port wine, which admittidly was an accidental perfect choice. I have never been a huge fan of the Opus until that moment. I finally feel like I "get it" now.

As good as the maduro's are, I've kinda fallen in love all over again with the Padron 64 / 26's in natural wrapper. I did a review of a '64 torp some time back, and that got me interested in natural wrappers all over again. Recently, I splurged a bit as I found a box of 1926 Serie #2's in natural wrapper which came home to rest up in my cabinet. After a few weeks of rest time, I couldn't resist any longer and broke one out on Sunday afternoon.

No chocolate, coffee, spice, nuts, fruit, etc in the taste profile, but what you get is tobacco. Rich, deep, full, amazingly complex yet somehow very straightforward tobacco tastes. When these are "on" (which is most of the time) the naturals just blow me away with the simple yet lush and rich taste profile that they offer up. Oh man.....may have to have one tonight.....

Cheers, gents - B.B.S.

Smoked a Ashton VSG with 3 years on it.
Man it was soooo smooth and delicious!
Almost completely different from a freshie none of the SG strength but with the SG flavor.
Thanks to my man Vince for a fanfriggintastic cigar!

I hate going to herfs. Recently someone gifted me a Partagas Series P No.2 that was a treat. So I am not able to give proper thanks to the generous brother out there.

I got the chance to smoke it yesterday on the golf course. I usually try not to smoke any ISOMs when they don't have my undivided attention but this time it was little different. The cigar was an exceptional smoke it had a strong character to it but with a creamy smooth side that caught my attention. I was surprised that such a new cigar I am assuming it was a late 2006 or an early 2007 was such an enjoyable cigar. There are so many of the 2006 -07 cigars that are smoking spot on now that aging is not an issue.

LOL - I had one Sunday night...what a great smoke - GB?

I had a Cohiba Exquisito from around 99-00...what a great smoke.

Also - the H.Upmann Connie #2 from 98.

As far as new stuff - the Divino's from this and last year are yummy!

Davidoff 3000 (5 pk sleeve)

My B&M must have lost stock and found them
Yellow wrapper and bands
Appear to be from year 2000
Very nice smoke

I smoked an AF Anejo #77 on Sunday as a Happy Belated Birthday and for Veterans Day. I'm not exactly sure how much age was on it, but the educated guess at the table was about 2-3 yrs. Let me say that if you haven't had the chance to get your hands on one these babies, make it priority numero uno. This thing literally shot flavors through my body that's how good it was. Paired it with a couple sips of Newcastle every once and a while and this thing just exploded. It was definatly my best smoking experience to date.

I guess the one that sticks out to me is the Tatuaje Cojonu 2003 I had a few weeks ago. That was an amazing cigar that I think is probably the best I've had to date. I picked up another one a week ago to save for a nice occasion. Maybe I should pick up a couple more now that I think of it...

I smoked my first LFD Litto Gomez Diez Americano today. Now I now what Devil Doc was talking about. Great smoke, burn and draw. Fantastic!

I smoked a Tatuaje Gran Cojonu a while back and I was totally immersed in the cigar... Time flew by. It had my attention the whole time. What a great smoke...

Couple of nights ago I sat down with a couple of Oktoberfest style beers and a Short Story. Considering the last time I smoked a SS was the night before I took the bar exam and simultaneously my dad was going in for heart surgery, this was sure to be a better smoke.

Broke out the Xikar and clipped off just enought to open it up. Pre light draw was remeniscent of every SS I've had...perfect. From the moment I held a match to it til the very end it burned evenly. I sat back in front of my chiminea and puffed away until I burned my finger from the ash. ( thought more than once about a roach clip!) It held the ash the entire time, not such a feat for such a small cigar but one of my most memorable smokes in a while. Complete and utter relaxation. My wife watched and said I needed a longer cigar because that was the most mellow she'd seen me in a long time!

The perfection 5 that was from 04 that i had last night actually. By the way Jfields its nice when you finally "get" the opus i know exactly what you mean. Opus is amazing you like them and then if you ever really "get them" you love um.

The two most recent cigars that i really enjoyed and stood out amongst the rest were the Padilla Signature '32 Lancero and a Partagas Serie Du Connoisseur No.1 ("islander").

Both are longer, thinner ringed cigars which i've been finding quite tasty lately. I think it must have something to do with the ratio of wrapper to filler or something, because side-by-side -- when smoked properly -- the thinner ringed cigars seem to stand a head above the other shapes/sizes for me.
