Just smoked my first Opus X

To be honest, as you can see by my post count, I haven't been smoking cigars for a very long time. A co-worked of mine who used to live in Tampa always talked about the much regarded Opus X. About two weeks ago I was in a cigar shop picking up a couple things when I saw the box of Opus X Fuente Fuente's. I picked up 4 (the per customer limit) took them home and put them in my humidor. The sales week at work ended today and I broke my sales record for the 2nd week in a row. Needless to say, I wanted to celebrate. I came home today and picked out one of the Opus X's I've heard so much about. For the longest time I've been a casual smoker, smoking on special occasions and whenever a good friend of mine would come around with cigars, he would always have one for me. I've been somewhat spoiled in the fact that he has a humidor full of ISOM's (Siglo VI, Monte #2's etc) so for the most part, that's what I smoked. Back to my story. I pulled the Opus out of my box and got the cap a little wet to go in with my punch. WOW! The wrapper was spicy, I knew at this point I was going to be in for something pretty powerful. I cut it and put my lighter to it and then started puffing away. Needless to say it was indeed an amazing, but very strong smoke. After opening up a bottle of good Merlot things got a little smoother and the flavors really opened up. Needless to say, I love smoking my first Opus X and look forward to letting the other 3 age for a bit and tackle them once again at a later date.

Ahh I remember my first OpusX as well. Glad you enjoyed it and thanx for sharing. Your headed down a slippery slope.

Oh man, it is all downhill from here. Congrats on a milestone, and a good week selling. Believe it or not the last one I smoked gave me the nicotine sweats and shakey hands. Go figure!!!

I remember very little of my first OpusX. I was hammered and, in true drunkard fashion, decided to light up an OpusX with 2 years on it. Could have been a Acid Kuba Kuba for all I remember.

After about 1/3 of it, I nearly had that same feeling. It was unreal. About 1/2 through I was sweating, but I just couldn't stop smoking it. Haha. Tomorrow when a couple guys come in from out of town I think I'm going to go much lighter, let me body recover from the ridiculous hit the Opus gave to me.

I have only had one but it was a great cigar. If you can get them at MSRP they are great.

You're post inspired me to light up a Super Belicoso that I had. I can't even begin to describe the flavors, but they are incredible. What power... Thanks for the idea! :)

with some girl i barely knew and it was over way too quick...

Yeah, but what about the cigar??? ;)

I was talking about both...

But really i was wasted too waisted to enjoy the cigar that night, and ended up just rushing through it to get back inside(it was a boosecruise party boat) because it was freezing cold outside. Now im being safer with the few I have, and giving them some downtime to mellow out.

Same thing happened to me, but it was the first one I smoked

Treat them with a little more respect now :whistling:
