I finally pulled the trigger on a new electric smoker, a Bradley digital 6 rack. I've been wanting one for a while and found a great deal online so I couldn't resist. It should be here in a week, I can't wait to break it in. :D

I was weary of these for the longest. Then my uncle got one. Evan, these are some fantastic smokers. They season quickly and turn out some great BBQ. You will love it.

My electric Brinkman is doing it's job right now. Three Picnics :whistling:

Both of our bathrooms smell like BBQ. Guess the vents are back flowing lol

Delivered the three picnics to my board member who had bought them and asked me to smoke them. Wife just called ans said their daughter-in-law now wants me to do some for her.

Seems a side business might have potential.

That's great Evan. If I ever get out to your neck of the woods, You cook, I'll supply the smokes.

Very nice! I did some Boston Butts last year and they were fantastic. I've been smoking ribs practically every week. My WSM is really starting to get crusty inside. I might have to clean it.

I've never used an electric. Maybe I'll have to check it out.

edited to add another helpful link (there's some good recipes, etc...) here

Here's my baby;

Don't forget the Aluminum Pucks

In the long run they will save you money. The last 2 or 3 pucks sometimes get messed up (when finishing off at a higher temp) in the conveyor at the end of your smoking session and can't be reused. Figure out how many you will need and then load the 3 blanks at the end...saves a little aggravation when you have to get those last few out that get charred up and break apart in there.

The Bradley Smoker Forum is a wealth of info...check it out.

You're going to really enjoy the smoker...once you start turning out great BBQ, your smoking reputation will spread like wildfire  so be prepared!

I am interested in if you experience the temperature variation others mention on the 6 rack. I have 12 windows opn right now comparing smokers to get a new one. I want to save my Brinkman electric as a backup.

I am not sure I like buying my wood pucks since I have a woods full of hickory, apple, etc. Negatives I find on the pucks is if you run out your sol till you buy more. Regarding chip smokers, you have to keep filling them and the water pans are very shallow. The Brinkman I use will take wood chunks and has a humongous water pan. A 14 hour picnic takes 1 1/2 pans of water.

I did a lot of research before pulling the trigger and I found that the best are electric because of the controlled heat source. Charcoal is hard to manage and the temperature varies big time. I use an electric brinkman. However I have used my weber charcoal gril for smoking before. I sure miss smoking on the weekend, which is a big downfall of living in the city. I had to leave my smoker home after graduating from college and moving to NYC.

I'm still waiting for the friggin thing to get here, I swear to christ they shipped it via horse and buggy... but I really can't complain since the shipping was free I guess.

I doubt they used a horse if it was free shipping. It was probably shipped via a donkey and buggy

This is the same smoker I have as well. I love it!!! I saw now that the newer models are including a thermometer in the top.

So...the thread title is a lie. You didn't "get" a new smoker, you just ordered one. Which comes first, the smoker or the stone?

I took a step drill and put one in.

The WSM forum has instructions and info.
