But not any richer.

I have been working a second job as a high school custodian for 10 years now. My main employer (non-profit nature park) offered to increase my salary by what I make at my part time job if I quit my part-time hourly job to spend more time at my main salary job.

I gave my 2-week notice and today was my last day. We celebrated by going out for Chinese!

Now I have to perform more I guess.

Great to hear the good news! I am sure you will have no problem giving the job extra attention now that you don't have to work a second. Congrats!

Now THAT sounds like a good deal. I just hope job #1 doesn't want all the extra hours too.

Concur, as long as the extra hours on salary are less than the hours spent at former job #2, sounds like you got a decent deal. Too bad it took them so long to realize your value and do something about it.

Congrats man.

I worked 2 jobs, kinda (building my nursery on weekends and working a full time job that required extensive travel, every week)for about 7 years, and it's a great feeling now to only have 1 job (my nursery). Conrads Bro, you will definitely enjoy your new found extra time :)

Ummm That is part of the deal to put in the extra time here instead. I was approximately 20-30 hours at my part-time job/week. If I ever want to get a professional salary I need to hit the ground and get this thing over the top. Professional Salary is probably another 15K and all the benefits.

I feel your pain, bro - retired (and collected my pension) from my main job about 6 months ago. Started a new job making more than my original job. Between the two (new job and pension) - I was making more than I was before, including income from my part time consulting work (which was pretty substantial too).

Was thinking this will be great - gonna scale back to 40 hours per week, and not lose any income. As a matter of fact - picked up some EXTRA income through the process. Ya know - buy and smoke more cigars - enjoy life...

Yeah, right... :sign:

I am working a second job right now. With the raise from the promotion, and a longevity raise in June the difference should be the same amount as what I make at my second job. If I get this assignment as Officer-In-Charge at the LORAN station this summer, I will get responsibility pay on top of all that. At that point I know I will be making more than I would working the second job. If the transfer goes through, I won't work the second job and give the family more time. I owe them big time. ;)

Congratulations!! Wish you only the best and may this be the start of only wonderful things.

Emodx first, good luck at getting the assignment. Second, we still use LORAN?? I thought we stopped using that as a navigation tool. I use to navigate using that in the 1970s. It brings back memories.
