Have you used a gas powered tamper on the sand layer before setting the pavers? Rental houses rent them cheap.
 
It would be a good idea to do so and then use it to finish up the job by tamping in the sand between the bricks to give it a very solid feel.

The wife is working on the total count now!
 
Man your wife must have her work cut out trying to count them now that they are laid. Easy to loose track. We used to mark each with a pencil as we counted out patios and stuff otherwise we were lost. Haha. Tell her thanks for doing the hardest part.
 
Well we used a couple meathods of counting and we are 99.9% sure we have the final #.
 
I am shocked at how tight this was and we have a winner that guessed the EXACT amount!

Our math was showing mid 400 pending on your layout pattern. So I was just guessing all over the board trying to cover any layout you could come up with. I'm curious as well if Larry was hidding in the woods counting???

I think you made 1 guess in the whole contest and was 1 # off. When it came this close I counted 3 time 3 different ways.

Nice work Paul. Now if you finish it up with some nice shrubs on that right side you will only need to replace a little bit of grass. At that point you might as well go with some sod. You can also get some shrubs at a decent price this late in the season.
