Items you feel are a must, for a good garage

Three bays at least, outlets galore and pin ups of all nationalities!

yep, should be some nice pictures on the walls!! Anyone got any good cigar posters or Memorabilia they want to send my way to hang up. :D

Also, the garage is already built, and I'm not sure of the exact dimensions. More then likey though, there won't be any custom car lifts.

Just basic stuff I can add to make it very organized and workable!

The very first thing I would do in my new garage would be to paint the floor with some really nice garage floor paint. If you don't do it now, you never will. It makes clean up so much easier....

If I had a brand new house, this is what I'd do first as well. Much easier then having to move everything either to one side or out of the garage.

and make sure it is EPOXY based paint, otherwise, your tires will rub the paint right off the floor!

I second this one! I built a house last year ago with a 3 car garage, and I only have 2 outlets in the whole garage. IMHO, you can't overkill on this one. If I had to do it over again, I would put them all over the place out there!

If haven't picked out your shop vac yet, don't let your wife pick out the size in order to save a few bucks. The bigger the better. It gets old emptying the container 2-3 times everytime you clean the garage of yard debri that has blown in.

If your cable / sat has the DIY network they're in the middle of a series called “Building the Ultimate Workshop" IIRC.

Its been pretty informative. I’ve been saving a couple episodes on TiVo for burning to DVD later.

Yah might want to check it out.

I have Gorilla shelves from Sams club in my garage and I’m happy with them.

I have two bench’s, one for delicate work and one for beating on stuff. The delicate bench is a metal framed with a composite top that was surplused from the University Chem department. Grainger sells them. Its nice but I don’t know if I would have paid retail for it. The other one I bought a big sold wood door, also surplused from the University, and then built a frame and legs and covered it with a 1/4 sheet of plywood cut to fit and held down with short dry wall screws counter sunk. When the plywood gets messed up too bad all I have to do is replace it and not the whole table.

One thing I done was to set them so that while standing straight in front of them you can place you hands palm down on them with out bending at the waist. It sucks to have to hunch over to work on stuff.

On the show on DIY they done up one hellashishly sturdy workbench in the early episodes. You should be able to go to their website and get the plans.

In the coming weeks they will do an Ultimate Auto Workshop show as so far it’s geared to woodworking.

One thing I don't see here yet is a nice comfy old couch. These are a must to take breaks on and light up some cigars without getting your "sitting room" furniture stained.

Great idea, I am very particular about my garage to. I really liked the ceiling mounted shelf. It keeps stuff off of the ground and out of the way. I look at a lot of stuff from Home Depot. I get ideas from them.
Make sure you have enough outlets, I put GFCI outlets in the garage so if I am trying to do to much it just trips the outlet. I would like to see some pics when it is all done. Good luck Smokyballs

Sorry Hillbilly, Good luck man.
