It Begins! Trey's Wineador Build...

Keep the pics coming, Trey!
Dan...Excellent call on the PetSmart bags! picked up a dozen in every size for under $10. Perfect! Much, MUCH cheaper than ordering online from....and have immediately!

Wineador is rock solid at 65F/65% w/ two Oasiseses in it...(yes, overkill, but had a sudden extra from a humi. Eh...why the hell not?!) and 4 lbs of beads. 90% of smokes are in, now just waiting on the 4-drawer setup from Forrest. Emailed me Tursday confirming payment receipt, told would send TN# when the shelves and drawers shipped, but not ATD on the rush order paid for. Last comm since. only other piece to still put in, as of this evening, is the Johnson A19AAT cooling thermo for the box. Getting everything recleaned and organized around the unit before I begin, as I'm not entirely sure how I'll get the probe inside in the free space. drain hole, most likely, but need room to pull the unit away from wall and do a good recon. I can already tell I should have gotten a bigger one:( I know! Maybe a full size, walk in! :P

looks like a couple of the hygros are within .6974 of each other. UNACCEPTABLE!

Good stuff Trey...

About the size thing, wait till you get your drawers in. When tings are organized right, they tend to hold more than you think!

Or, just smoke a hell of alot more!

Hmmm...need advice. Wineador's t-stat gauge reads 63F (I set it to that and temp dropped on readout after a little bit...holding steady at setpoint)

Concerns and questions:

1. ALL hygros (great calibration as far as I can know...they show perfect in the correct environment) extremely close to each other in temp/humidity (which would be great, except:
 - temp and humidity is 70F/58RH (x 5 hygros)(within 1 each of each other))
 - Patience, I know, as I just put in a crap ton of cigars and boxes for singles two days ago...
 - Humidity drop I get...any thoughts on the temp rise? Seems very odd now that the hygros are so far off the cooler set temp...

2. Been reading around, and I know to just be calm about it...but...something doesn't feel right. Ambient temp/humidity in room, maybe? I do keep my office warm, but...that's kinda the point of having a cooled humi...

Thoughts?

What is the Temp differential that the cooler can handle. I.e., I"m pretty sure they would say it can only cool X degrees cooler than the environment it is in.
How warm is the room?

Hey Dan,
Well, mancave is ~80F +/-. Checked the manual, doesn't give specific temp differential cape, but DOES say ambient should be around~77-80ish. I'm at the upper end, but wouldn't think that counts as too extreme. Will lower office temp and wait and watch. I'm good about not opening door to look...go go glass doors!

FWIW, the new wooden humi on top  in the pics is empty and seasoning. Humis in use are in master bedroom - ~68-70F.

Thanks Danno! I'll let you know.

Additional thought/observation: manual says "temp is based on approx center of unit"...magnetic hygros on front of shelves (1/2" or so) behind glass...maybe just ambient a little through the glass just enough to move the hygros? That seems like it would make sense.

edit: put best hygro in middle of center shelf to test that theory for a couple days.

Same hygrometer I have.
(the round ones at top)
Having to look at them from a certain anglr to read them doesn't get on your nerers?

Okay, so now I REALLY need advice! Got the cedar drawer setup from Forrest. All good. Drawers meant to slide into the slots on the sides. Good. OEM wire rack support brackets are in the slots...not just stickied in, rather poked through the plastic. Gentle prying with a flat-head shows further prying will pull out beackets, along with potential breaking of the inner shell and exposing insulation. Drawers CAN'T slide into slots! BAD!

What's the trick? Too wide to just sit on top of the racks, and rack brackets seem permanently affixed.

Help?

This is a sudden brake. I could use a vector if anyone has one.

wow. Are those held in with fasteners? Can't really see clearly. Punch a center punch divot on the head of whatever is going through the plastic. Take a dcent sized drill bit and drill down the center or the retaining feature.

Update:
Dremel'd the little vertical tabs off the rack brackets. Noisy but effective. Drawers/shelves fit perfectly and everything slides smoothly.

Surgery finished, adding some water to each drawer. 2x Oasis on bottom + 2lbs 65% beads. Overkill, yes. Meh.

Drawer construction is absolutely spectacular, so big thanks to Forrest at wineadors.com. Order arrived via FedEx today after  9 day build and 1 week transit.

Special thanks to Gianni for being my other set of ideas and brain in getting this done without damage. Skype video via iPhone is pretty bad ass, actually...

Total consideration/planning/rehearsing: about an hour. (Measure twice, then measure again. Cut only once.)

Total Dremel time: ~6-9 minutes

Room for many, many more cigars I won't tell my wife about: Priceless.

Our wives met via Skype. We're so busted. I'm going to continue to blame you publicly to her for all the extra stuff *ahem* "arriving" in the mail... :whistling:
