When trading/selling internationally do you go by the price of the product(cigar) in the USA...the other country...or something completly different?

Just a thought I had while reading a thread....nothing against the thread...just jogged my memory to a deal I had done.

Good question. I have always used the MSRP that I pay. I do quite a bit of trading over on CW and here ,and have always used the MSRPs posted above on this forum (opus/Anejo/Padron) for the trades I have done.

I suppose there would have to be some give and take if you were trading with someone where prices are through the roof, it has to be even to work out.

Generally in USD. alot of people use Euro, but ususally can convert using a chart. they ususally state it, if not, make it clear before doing business.

Are you meaning as in for example, the taxes in Canada? I just go by the US price. Saves a lot of hassle, and for the few cigars that I have bought in Canada and then traded, I have either gone by the US price, or the overseas vendor price for cigars not available in the USA.

Yea...that jogged my memory about a deal I did with someone in Europe. I traded based on the USD...not even realizing what I would be for the sticks around the world. It was all good.

We talk about HTF smokes and the such in the USA...they can be near impossible to find elsewhere.

A few year ago I was golfing in Toronto. I gave a fellow an Opus...his playing partner SHARED it with him and they were both thrilled.
(no, not in that way!)

When I buy Nc over here I can tell you I pay a lot more than in the U.S. When I trade here with sticks purchased here in europe I just take the loss rather than try and explain the higher price plus 19% tax. The other thing is even though i have a u.s post box through the army the only way to get a tracking number is to send it express 18-20$. I dont mind though because i do enjoy interacting with the BOTL here. It is also the reason I dont have to worry about coolidors and cigar tetras at any given time i may have only 100 sticks due to cost but the hobby is about enjoyment and meeting others so it is well worth it.

I recently did a trade for a 5er of some cigars that are way over priced over here, but cost normally 11 dollars a stick in the states give or take.

The cigars I sent cost me 9 Euro 50 Euro cents each, which is around 13 dollars.

Shipping for both of us was about the same (I didn't purchase a tracking number and the package was small enough to count as a letter) and both of us were happy with the trade.

And like Dale said, the US Army post office only gives DC# on express packages that go for at least 18 dollars for the smallest sized box.

And the Germans want over 40 dollars for a tracking number to the United States.

So to answer your question Gary, In a trade I go for what the cigar I'm receiving costs in the states against the cost of the cigar I'm sending goes for over here.
