Been a fan for some time now...love that lip smacking, sweet taste the wrapper gives off. Especially in the Fuente Rosado Sungrown Magnum Rs.

I read this. Really a great article. Love the wrapper, but hope Ecuador Sumatra doesn't get into the scarce category. I still love it, with several of my desert island cigars utilizing it.

After it was awarded at top 25 position in 2012, the AF Mag R 44 has been pretty scarce, or significantly more expensive than the rest of the Mag R line.  Thats what happens when a cigar that relies on a specific leaf suddenly blows up in popularity.  I'd say the 44 is the best of that line, though, because the narrower ring guage allows the wrapper to really shine through the filler.

I think that example you mentioned was exactly as you said...that blend was way better in the 44 format than any other. The larger ring sizes paled in comparison. But keep in mind when talking pricing, the box count in the R44 was significantly higher than the larger sizes. Forty four cigars versus 25 cigars. But you are right, since they came out they went up a few bucks a box...when you can find them.
