There are always those few who abuse which bring down a bad rap on the majority.  I for one have been witness to several questionable acts by Memphis police officers that involved flying down the median/turn lanes just to get away from traffic.  Or tailgating cars when they are going the exact speed limit in an attempt to get them to speed up (this happens to me all the time to and from work), or even turning on their lights at a red light and running through it then turning their lights off, pulling U-turns in the middle of the road are all examples of how I see cops pulling traffic violations on a daily basis.

My respect for police officers has not changed though, as I know it is just a select few that abuse their power.

PS, don't park where you aren't supposed to in Knoxville and have an opposing school's sticker on your car!  It will get towed!  Cops in Knoxville bleed Orange and it is great.

Every thing you state here is used by legitimately in every day police work. As explained to you in previous posts officers do the things for legitimate reasons.

If I am responding to a burglary in progress I am going to get into the immediate area by running code traffic. When I get close I am going to shut down aduio and visual and attempt to get to the scene ASAP. If this involves getting close to your bumper in an attempt to move you so be it. If it involves going down the median so be it. If it involves turing on my blues to get through the traffic light so be it. It makes my job safer and also helps me to get the bad guy on the scene. This is much better than having to track the bad guy down...Don't you think.

If you take the time to read Tennessee Code Annotated it clearly states LEOs can break traffic laws in emergency situations if due care is used to insure the safety of other motorists.

Your last statment seems to advocate officers abusing the law. Was it tme to take more meds when you posted? :0

I would love to but there are 3 things keeping me from doing so...

a)it would sound like a broken record because I have already done so (read back on some of my first comments, not the ones about Jake on my golf team)
b)I would just get yet another "You dont get it", "You have no clue" from one of the post padders, flame starters
c)I'm getting tired of this bickering and trying to one-up each other with each post style of message board arguing.

I'm not sure what kind of message boards you've been involved in for the last 4 years, but the way you jumped both feet into a full out assault of established members of this board - with newb status - leads me to believe you aren't experienced enough to be posting here.

You are a freshman on this board - you're acting like you're a senior. You know from being involved in the collegiate environment that what you did was a faux pas. If you did that with your college peers, they'd be visiting you in the middle of the night to "educate" you on proper etiquete. Kinda like being "educated" here with being "ganged up on".

You say you're here for a while. I hope you realize the eyes of the community are on you right now. And there are an AWFUL lot of individuals that are not posting on this thread that have seen your actions. You should know up front you're attitude has not won you an awful lot of allies at this point.

I see it that you have three possible choices from here on:

Option 1) Learn from this episode - STFU - respect the established members of the board. And STOP taunting - take that stupid a$$ comment out of your sigtag - even though you still feel as though you were wronged. You need to understand you DO NOT know it all - you only THINK you do...

Option 2) Keep it up your attitude - be a smart a$$ - keep your silly sigtag - and get bitch slapped every time you turn around. I gotta think you'll get tired of that in very short order. I guarantee that if you keep it up your future treatment on this board will lead to either option 1 or option 3.

Option 3) Get the Fu(k out!!! Leave - pack your stuff - walk away. It'll be better for all of us in the long run if you don't want to follow choice #1.

Some stereotypes are from things we've heard; others are from experience. My stereotype concerning police officers and military personnel, based on my experience with them, is that they are some of the most upstanding and dedicated people on the planet.

Are there some bad apples? Sure. Do some people abuse their power of authority? Sure.

But I submit to you that the same thing happens in the board room, in the principal's office, and every other venue you can imagine. Only more often than it does with folks in law enforcement and the military -- which is rather amazing, given the amount of ****take that they have to put up with.

I did read this post AS it was happening and I disagree, you guys are they ones who were the first to insult, all the posts are timestamped and he did not post his sigtag line before sarge called him a puke and you called him an assclown, the assclown reference was IN THE SIGTAG he posted(maybe he is clairvoiant).
