Here's how my day was spent yesterday...



over 32" of ice, temps of 0 to 15 above, and 8 hours! Totally amazing under the ice.... the ice was so clear, and it was dark enough you could not see it! It was pretty easy to bump your head on it. But you could see the areas we shoveled as they were like a lighted path above you. Someday when I have some spare cash (what the hell is that?) I'll get an underwater CAMERA housing and attempt some photos.

Lake Superior was frozen over this year for the first time in ages and had no snow. While I didn't go under the ice (I try to avoid that at all costs :laugh: ), it was really cool going out on it. The ice was like glass and you could see all the way to the bottom in 15-20 feet of water.

As much as I like to get wet, that really scares the shyte of me. My idea dive is in swimming trunks and a t-shirt. What you do takes real skill.

And that is exactly why I want to get my Dry-suit, Ice Diving and Cave Diving certifications. I'm a rescue diver and have done Wreck Diving, multi-level, drift dives and a host of other things, but alas, Okinawa does not have the ice, caves or cold water for the three certs I really want. One of my goals is to dive Lake Superior and Alaska in the winter.

PS: I have the digital camera with a Scuba housing for underwater photography. Maybe we can link up sometime for a dive with pics once I get certed (or better yet, I can get certed in AK - they have to have classes there.....)
