I have sad news.

Some months ago Brian and I had a disagreement (not the first, but indeed it was the last). As luck would have it I decided it was time to quit being such an arrogant victim and I PMd him with an apology. Of course knowing Brian like you all do he was more than willing to accept my apology and help me to learn something from the situation. Of course a few days later I received a package, that was testament to his generosity.

I promptly sent him a PM thanking him for the generous package. The funny thing was I spelled his name BRAIN instead of Brian and he responded letting me know that he was glad that I finally was able to see him for who he was LOL. We laughed a lot about that and from then on whenever I received a message from him he would end with BRAIN. #1 your guidance will be missed, I will celebrate your life with a very special smoke, thank you!!

RIP Brian- even though i didn't personally have any interaction with him, I definitely considered him a brother at this forum. My condolences to his family and all of his many friends here at CP.

My name is Ryan and I am Brian's son.

John let me know about this thread and together with my Mom and brother, I have just read the 4 pages of posts dedicated to my father. I am truly humbled by the fantastic show of support and amazing posts by everybody.

My father was a great man, an absolute one of a kind. Very few people got close to him in his lifetime as he was a very private man. Of course when it came to his family, it is quite the opposite. Family meant everything to him and the love he showed all of his 5 kids and my Mom was incredible.

His passing is an absolute travesty and we just cannot come to terms with the fact that he is no longer with us. This is the most pain we have ever suffered and is indescribable!! Thank God we all have each other and are so close because this is going to be very hard to get through!

What an amazing man who accomplished so much in his short life. My Dad always did what he wanted because he could achieve anything he put his mind to. I have never met a more dedicated person and I don't think I ever will !! He never ever did anything half heatedly. If he did something, he put his soul into it! I have also never met anyone with such a unique ability to say exactly what is on his mind and never beat around the bush. There is never any bullshit with my Dad. He never censored himself and was never afraid to say exactly what needed to be said!

Let me tell you that any of you who were lucky enough to have conversed with him or met him are very fortunate. Honestly, exaggerations aside, this is a man who is a true legend in his time. His words were always so incredibly wise.

Cigar Pass must be one hell of a place and have some incredible people because it was like his second life! You must understand, my father has never been a social person at all. He always kept to himself and within our close family. But for whatever reason, he was just so drawn to CP. He spoke of it all the time and spoke of how this was a true brotherhood and the kind of place that brought out the best in people.

This is the first time I have ever been onto CP and of course I am now intrigued to meet the people that my father spent so much time with and would like to simply acknowledge everybody here and let them know that your combined words seriously touched my heart as I know it has touched my Dad's!

After reading everyone's comments, all I can say is I feel honored and blessed to be Brian's son and to continue his legacy.

He will always live on through his four sons, one daughter, two grandsons and incredible wife he left behind.
We all miss him so much and are so blessed to have had such an incredible person in our lives.

Dad, wherever you may be - YOU ARE MY HERO!

My prayers will be with you, very sorry to hear about this. I never had any personal interaction with Brian but watched him constantly give to others on a daily basis. He will be missed. RIP
 
Wow. I am stunned. I had no idea he was ill.

I got off to a very rocky start with Brian immediately after joining CP a year ago. He and I had a long and heated PM correspondence that could have gotten ugly if he were less accommodating and I were even a few years younger and thus dumber.

Over the months that followed he and I spoke both via post and PM and buried the hatchet and became what I would call respectful acquaintances. That changed at the Vegas herf when I met Brian and his wonderful wife. Brian and I spoke face to face, traded smokes, and had a great time. I knew then that our relationship had turned into the beginnings of a true friendship. Since then we continued to talk and began dropping bombs on each other and I was very much looking forward to the 2009 Vegas herf where I hoped to continue our conversations about the governments of South Africa, Zimbabwe, and the U.S.

What terribly sad news that he is no longer with us. My sincere condolences to his family.

Like many I am at a complete loss for words and I've never been very good at this sort of thing to begin with.

I am one of the lucky ones to have shared time with Brian. Brian was the closest BOTL living near me and I was very excited one day when he invited me to come over and share a smoke and conversation with him. The times spent were invaluable. The wisdom imparted one can't place a price on. He was a man with many life experiences and a strong essence of living that surrounded him. He exuded health and vitality (which is all the more reason for my shock). His generosity was unrivaled.

I agree with Ryan that he was a legend for our time in that he was driven to succeed but kept his family close. He spoke of his children with the highest regard and he loved his wife, Jane, very much and it showed.

Brian, you will always be in my thoughts and you will be terribly missed. I only hope that I can be half the man that you were when facing life's challenges and celebrations!

Brian was an Icon. The truest example of a Brother that you will ever find. The kindness, and honesty that he gave to Cigar Pass will live on. The next generation of CP Member will be able to find his knowledge as well as his example on how to be a true and honest person. This will always be a small part of his legacy.

From my family to yours, we wish you the strength to push forward and the faith to seek understanding.
