When I first read about the coolerdors and tupperdors, I said to myself, these guys are nuts! :whistling: I have 4 humis that can hold 200 sticks.

Well I am one of the nuts now. I am expecting to increase my collection for some serious aging and cannot see myself spending more on another humi, thanks to the info here. I figure I'll use the money towards the cigars instead! A 48 qt cooler should hold me for a long time, right guys? Please tell me this is true :0

Special thanks to emodx

Yeah...good luck with that. I bought a 52qt. cooler last month...to ease the burden on my 250ct. and all the stray tupperdor's I have.

Well...now that the tax check came in, I'm once again bursting at the seams. Hopefully I can chip away at the stash until June or so before I do another mass order.

I hate to break this to you, but I bought a Coleman 48 qt less than a month ago. And it's full. :p :D

Wilkey

I bought a 120qt. to start with an have the dam thing 3/4 full in about three months.

I first started with a desktop humi(50 counts). After a while, I realized that if I want to age my cigars a bit, I need a cooldor. I bought a small one from walmart and threw some beads into it. It works fine! I won't store a many boxes of cigars so I have enoguh space for maybe 5 boxes. Really happy with the cooldor!

Start checking the various "marts" (Wal, K, etc.) 120 qt coolers are on the shelves now! I give that 48 qt about 2 - 3 months!! Welcome to the madness.

Get the biggest one you can find, as long as it has the slots running along the sides so you can turn it up on end and put shelves in it. I doubt the price difference between the smaller and larger coolers is that much, and you'll appreciate it after a while.

Do most of you use Coleman or some other brand?

I think this would be a great coolidor

- COLEMAN 150 MARINE -

Thats the one I'm looking at for later on.

I have the Marine, I think 100 or 120. I waited, was patient, reworked the seals, used 2 pounds of beads....nothing. Never got my humidity above 53%. Don't know what happened, but got aggravated and bought a JR barrister instead. Now I need a cabinet. Or another barrister.

Edited beekaws I kant spel gud.

Just check the humidity level and it was 73%. Pretty good seal. I will cut back a little. I like it to be a tad below 70%

I have a coleman right now. Works amazing, its a transitional thing, cause Im getting a cabinet, but it has worked better then the 2 humidors I had before. The seal is the best, hands down!
Beads are a must with a coolerdor, its just soooo much easier.

Go big!! You'll outgrow it... TRUST me! :whistling: been there, done that!

The best thing about the marine coolers is they are a tad wider... which allows for boxes to sit side by side a little better. Mine(100qt) was not a marine version and on full sized boxes I had to play jigsaw puzzle every time I pulled them out or moved them around.

But.. a cooler is the way to go for cheap and easy... I still have mine after upgrading to a cabinet, but it's empty (so far!)

I feel your pain

edit: Hey Sirius... what brand cooler did you buy? Maybe some FOGs could recommend a brand of smaller cooler... Coleman, Igloo, whatever? Does any particular model work better than another?

Thanks

I personally use a small fridge instead of a cooler. But, now that the CPI cigars are back in my posession, I need to go buy a cooler just for the CPI cigars. So which is it guys? Which cooler has the best seal and has slots?

I have an Igloo.... 54 Qt Marine cooler......... it seems like it is the marine coolers are the ones with slots for shelves...... and they seem to be squarer...... will hold more boxes

Emo...
Have I got a deal for you!! I have a Coleman 100qt cooler, good seal, wire shelves with some cedar lashed underneath. Since I got my cabinet humi, it's sitting in my spare room and the wifely unit says IT MUST GO!! It's either give it to someone or turn it into a fish hauling cooler (which I have 4 of already)

say the word and I'll mail it to you!! Otherwise some lucky CP'er will end up with it (for the right price of course...)

Let me tell you Joe (siriusstoogie), the 48 quart will work for you for a while if you don't go crazy but in this place you just never know. I went to Frank's (Big100HD) house in Virginia and he's got six 150 quart cooledors all full and I think he just picked up another. See what I mean....... :D  :p

Oh by the way Swissy, PM comin' at ya!!!!!
