There seems to be a number of new members making posts that the old school way of thinking is passe - and they're going to change things around here. The members post 600+ BS comments in 60 days and they think they are FOG's. They're taking everyone to task, and are hell bent on changing things. They continute to fill threads with useless comments (like wurms secret santa crap, orangeman's playing like CC's "crocked", or indyrob talking about "corrupt cops policing threads"...).

I'm not liking this new attitude coming into CP, openly expressing the way they don't like things being done the way they are - playing like they're some kind of "new" arbitrator on the board. These members think they've got all kinds of support and refuse to back down when they're taking the board to task. This "I don't care what your start date, or what your post count is - I don't like <insert what they don't like here>..." crap is getting old.

Not that long ago if any of those knuckleheads would have started that kind of bologna, they'd have been hit from 16 different sides. Too bad they weren't around to see those fireworks!!! Now, it seems, they figure all they gotta do is have greater staying power than any one FOG and they're home free.

What is this place evolving into? ???

As a newb I noticed that too. I have gained an incredible amount of knowledge from the FOG's here, you included. I think that a lot of the above mentioned actions fly in the face of the premise that this board is based upon (as outlined by Rod et al.) I think some are too quick to "pull the trigger" on topics from the past that they have no knowledge about. I hope that doesn't tarnish the reputation of the newbs that can keep their mouth shut and eyes and ears open. I personally am thankful for you guys (You, CC, SC, Lee, AVB, and all the others) and the knowledge you impart on this board. I will once again shut my mouth, but had to give my $.02.

Nicely put George. I agree 100%. I've been here for over 2 years now and I still respect those that came before me. As far as I'm concerned they are letting me play in the playground they helped create. For that I am grateful.

Sometimes it seems like we are all fighting a losing battle with some of these new guys. We need to keep fighting the fights that need fighting and keep CP a great place.

Some of the big mouths that used to blast people for stepping out of line no longer contribute in the same way they used to. I know I don't read nearly as much or as often I used to. But that will change soon too.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Here is another noob that respects the way the FOGs want to run this place and i hope one day that i could help to run this place as it is run now

I find it best to stay off Radar. I'm new and maybe have alot of posts, but its not from being rude or whatever like some have done. I just post on things I know and if I dont, I just keep my trap shut. What else can one do when they are medically retired? I just love the wealth of information here. I've heard about so many cigars I was ignorant of so heres a big thank you for making this place a wonderful and yet, entertaining place. :)

George is correct. I'be been here almost two years and I still look to the real FOGs when in doubt.

The wisdom of Grandpa unleashes itself in a wonderfully eloquent and concise summation of recent problems here and on Cigarsmokers.com. Here's to him and the rest of you FOG's who have shown us noobs the proper way.

George, they're not worth the time. Besides, they know it all anyway.

*waves hand in air in famous HORSHACK fashion* ohh ohh ohh!
*Waits attentively for a nod from teacher*

edited cause this girl has a DATE to go to and can't wait around for you ol fogs to give me permission to speak.

So here is goes, Ya'll have gotten soft in your ol age!!!

I think most of us new guys are here to learn and expand our knowledge of cigars.
I came to this board to get a greater understanding of cigars and have learned quite a lot.
This board has pointed me to some fantastic cigars and I have met some great folks here, both online and in person.
Like Mr Peat, I tend to keep off the radar. I post when I feel I have something to contribute to the community.
For me, it all about meeting good people and learning about great cigars.

The only downside so far is I now like cigars that are more expensive… :whistling:

I had thought it might be a generation gap, but Asshats have been all different ages
Same can be said for the new members who "get it"
It's the same mentality that moves someplace because they like it,
and then want to change everything. After that these same folks are the loudest complainers when
problems arise.
I joined CP because I like it.
The guys who have been here a long time ,and put out the effort to protect it, are the reason I like it.

well I don't like Neal off his meds, but who does?

The larger the sample size, the greater the chance of finding people that rub you the wrong way. Some people think it's OK to act like idiots on boards because knowbody really knows them, it's a shame.

I'm new to CP and I am not into trading or passes but the majority of people here seem like great people(based on gut feeling), it really sucks that a very small percentage always have to ruin it.

I agree with George, even if he considers me one of the asshats, I don't.

I have enjoyed George's ability to debate quite a bit, but never really considered my stance as an asshat, but as a minority. I do agree that there is a certain element here lately that is taking the board by storm and turning it into the 3rd grade blacktop. I don't enjoy that so much as what used to be a chance to openly debate an issue with regards to respecting the integrity of the board. There has been an outing of sorts and I think that the FOG's have been caught up in it as well. I have. Everybody has. I've been lurking lately and posting in relevant threads and staying away from the hotspots but George has hit the nail on the head.

I'm not sure if he remembers anything before the Vintage Group Buy episode, but we have had good debates before...but it's been spoiled by the current tide of crapola in the threads lately.

Great post George, this definitely needed to be said and I'm glad you've pointed this out to the board.

While I'm not a FOG on this board, what I've witnessed on these boards is very much what you speak of.

Constructive criticism is an integral factor into making oneself better, yet I see many new people that are given this, refuse to take it, immediately dismiss it, and get defensive. Suck up your pride/ego and quit trying to re-invent the wheel here.

These FOGS have been around here a lot longer and know how things are supposed to work. Read more, listen, and post less. If you can do this, you will "get it" and this board will be a lot more enjoyable place for all.

Enough said, enjoy your Saturday everyone.

Well said George(and Ric, Ken, and Bill). Guys like Lee, Kenny, Neil, have made this place. I just rent a little of their space from time to time.

Hmmmm... Who could forget:

Remember...with an organized community comes communism.

Viva la revolution!

Or my personal favorite:

and another thing...I'm tired of you so called 'eatablished members' getting off on slandering people like it was cool.

Just because you don't like RPG's(whatever) PIF, doesn't mean you can attack him and post his setup calling him out.
Just because you didn't get the toy outa the cereal box when you were a kid doesn't make it ok to go after Cliff.

Fuggin corrupt police policing the threads...fuggin 'tarded

But then again - maybe I missed your point, Rob....

I'm sincerely hoping your latest post signals a significant change in attitude... ;)
