I am helping my oldest friends drive a car down to Miami from NY.
I haven't done this drive since I was a kid.
We leave Monday and drive straight to Norfolk.

What I am looking for is any insight on good cigar shops, liquor stores, restaurants and interesting things to do in between cruising down the highway stopping at every Cracker Barrel and Waffle House we see.
I love regional foods and trying interesting things.
My friend is a vegitarian... so a good bakery suggestion might help him deal with my pit stops!

I will be doing some research on this but I figured I would start off here.

Thanks in advance!

See Pedro!

That's TFF!! All that billboard advertising works!![/quote]

Is Pedro like 'The Mystery Spot'? ???

-Rob

BECAUSE of their mass advertising campaign I do NOT stop at Pedro's... out of principal! However, the JR cigar's off exit 97 in NC is good... lots of other random stuff at the stores, but a decently large cigar pit stop too... I got some real good stuff cheap when I went home for thanksgiving. Like I said, exit 97 in NC (Selma NC). Also, in I believe Denton... you'll see signs... there's a big Harbour Freight tools outlet center. That's fun to get cheap tools if you're a tool guy.

If your drivin' through Norfolk, my sister has a big sandwich deli right on the main st (Granby St.) across the street from the federal court house called "Bobbie B's Deli". Rob, if you want I'll call her and let her know your stoppin' in for lunch and I'm sure she'll trade you a couple of her special sandwiches for a couple of your special stogies. Also, while your there on Granby St., you can stop by Emerson's Cigar of Norfolk. I'll call you later on and we can discuss further....... :)

Dang Brother! I have been there before... I eat there for lunch sometimes. My building is on Naval Station Norfolk.
...small world.

C&G ...today's lunch will be a hot pastrami on rye.

I cannot speak for Baltimore, but rush hour in DC is from 4 till 7. The flow of traffic is out of DC and North on 270 and west on I-66 in the PM and Vice Versa in the AM. However, DO NOT TRY TO TAKE THE WOODROW WILSON BRIDGE, period! Take the beltway(495) which takes you on the west side of the DC circle. You have Bethesda Tobacco on the north side of DC (Maryland)and then there is Old Virginia Tobacco on the south side of DC(Northern VA). There are alot of good restaurants in Bethesda, let me know your food prefrences and I can direct you better. The best gas stations around here are either WaWa or Sheets as they have cheap gas and a kick-ass convient store.

Once you get into DE look for RT 896. Follow it south till you get to RT 40. Make a right on RT 40. There is a B&M called Cigarette City in the shopping center where Home Depot is. They have the largest walkin in the area with the most selection in DE and MD. I belive they just got in Anejo MAduro's and Opus perfections.

Thanks bro,
I think we will be bypassing the DC area with our jog over to Norfolk.
But this is the kind of info I am looking for so I appreciate it.

smoke76 how are their Opus and Anejo prices?
How far off the 95 are they?
Thanks!
