I was paroozing the internet and came across some strange humidors on ebay and some other places. Anyone have pictures or a story to tell about strange humidors or specialty humidors over the years offered by cigar companies? I saw one that looked like a tree stump, any info on it?

I once saw a humidor made out of a human head. I was negotiating down the price, and I went to lift the lid to check the seal. That's when his eyes opened.

I once bid 100,000 simoleons on my town's oldest redwood to make the world's first drive-through humidor.

I came across this at a local shop this afternoon. Didn't look to see how much it was as I thought it was hideous so far as humidors go.

I'm having trouble deciding whether this is just an oddly worded thread or a poor attempt at getting the forum to give you ideas for products. Since you do run a full time humidor company, perhaps asking for product ideas should be kept to the retailer or manufacturers forum, with your other humidor related threads.

Sorry you read something into it that just isn't there. I had come across a humidor that was made to look like a log, I was just curious to see just what other oddities were out there and what creations the cigar mfg's had come up with to promote their cigars, that's all. I enjoy the history behind them. I have no desire to build oddities and I have plenty of my own ideas. My so called "Full time humidor business" built all of about 8 to 10 humidors in the last year or so. I'd hardly call that a living. My full time job is owning and opperating Audio 2000.

This thread had the potential for us to see some history of humidors and different things that came from the companies we get our finest cigars from. I hope it moves that way. It's what it was intended to do.

As far as the White House humidor goes, I'd say it must have been an incredible amount of work. Someone did quite an accurate build. Interesting to say the least. Not sure it would be my first choice when I walked into the B&M :0

I didn't see this as an attempt for ideas or drumming up business.

Not at all my friend. I have plenty on my plate. When I finish what I have to do now, I'm building some furniture for the wife and a cabinet for myself. Whoops! I'm still logged in as Santa. Sorry about that.

That's fine, I wanted to get the idea posted, if for nothing else than to question the angle. This wouldn't be the first time he's asked for ideas on designs. The line between retailer and community member is a tough one to manage.

I guess I'm confused on this issue. Why can't a retailer ask for opinions of his potential customers? There have been issues in the past and for the most part, those look to be behind us.

Would we jump on Blazer or Palio or even Tatuaje, if they asked for ideas on new products? Just throwing it out there.

 Overly sensitive.

No, I certainly wouldn't, I would expect them to phrase it that way, though, and be open about it. I would also assume they would post it in the manufacturers forum, it is after all there for them to "post product releases, information, and interact with members."

Thanks guys. I do think it would be cool to see the stranger side of our passion. Kind of like the Culebra cigar. They were quite a suprize to me the first time I saw one. I figure a subject to expand our knowledge. And I promise, you won't find me building a White house humidor.

Damn, still Secret Santa. Sorry again. ???

Your fanaticism is hardly comparable to the reasoned argument I posted, but since you seem to be avoiding substance in preference for emoticons, I guess I can't expect too much.

That was a joke... on myself, but rag on.
