OK all,
At the risk of being labled a savage.

I have been smoking cigars about a year and in my research on the internet and elsewhere I have come to the conclusion that there are no difinitive answers to any questions.

So
How far is too far to smoke a cigar?

My name should clue you in to how I feel....

Its simple. Until it is no longer enjoyable to you. There is only one reason for me at least to smoke a cigar "Pleasure". When that is gone ya gotta put it out. I think I might go further than others but usually about an inch does it for me.

Too far is when it stops tasting good or when you burn your fingers, whichever happens first. It depends on the cigar how long it stays tasty, some go down to a nub and still taste great. However, some I've pitched when there was two inches left. Needless to say, I don't buy more of those.

I agree with 4the crue, when you stop enjoying the smoke its time to lay it down. Enjoying a cigar means enjoying the different taste and smells, if it taste like sh** then put it out and move on

Yup!

Don't let anyone tell you to put it out when your lips start burning.. You may enjoy blisters on your lips!

crap... I've tossed them away after 3-4 puffs, and others I have burned my moustache on! It's all a matter to taste - when it stops tasting good to you stop smoking it. If it doesn't stop tasting good, smoke it till it's gone and no longer possible to smoke!

I stop smoking a cigar when:

a) It stops being enjoyable

b) The smoke gets too hot

c) I burn my fingers

Whichever comes first.

However, a), b) and c) usually happen simultaneously.

look at atuck's latest reviews for clues

i find the character of a cigar to change drastically with the sweet smell of burning flesh. for those one dimensional smokes, it's a great way to get your money's worth.

This is the way to go right here.

::EDIT:: I just remembered the last time I went to the army surplus store they have surplus hemostats for cheap. I might pick up a few for just such a purpose.

OK guys I feel ya!

Thanks for all the input.
