Home Theater Question

Not trying to thread jack, but if interested I found this article on this that's listed below. My brother is involved in highly involved in the tech industry and from what he's heard it's a sure thing. I'd suggest at this point leaning towards Blu-Ray and from what Microsoft is saying a Blu-Ray Xbox360 will be out as early as May.

HD-DVD Backing Down

I just read this at the Digitalbits also! Yippee....read the first post in this blog.

I've been dual format from the beginning (Toshiba XA2 and Sony PS3) so this announcement doesn't bother me too much. In fact, over the weekend I went ahead and got a Toshiba A3 from CostCo and a Toshiba A20 from NewEgg for some other rooms in the house. :D

I can play both formats

What versions of Blu-ray are supported, though? That's becomming the next hot issue. Certain older players can't completely play the newer versions (1.1, I think) of the Blu-ray specification. And they are not software upgradable, to boot. From what I've read, the movies will still play for the most part (now), but you'll be missing some features.

Just another thing to keep in mind. The format war may have been won, but set yourself up to win the specification/feature war, too. :)
