Anyone else noticing that the Holt's website doesn't seem to be loading? It seems to be a problem with "info.holts.com", but I'm not sure how that relates to "www.holts.com". Regardless, the homepage doesn't come up, nor do any sub-pages that you may have bookmarked. Check it out and let me know if it's just my end, but I had the same issue at both work and home since yesterday afternoon-ish.

Here's the message I'm getting (both FFox 2.0 / IE7):
Attention Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 2.0 users:

As we transition to our new web site this Spring we are discovering some technical difficulties with the browser versions you are using and our current web site. To avoid having you experience any inconvenience or possible technical problem with the Holt's website we are recommending you temporarily place your order by toll free telephone.
...goes on to say they are offering free shipping and a couple of samples with called in orders.

Guess I'd have to give them kudos for doing the best they can and making an offer to offset the inconvenience....

Regards - B.B.S.

edit...schpelling.....

Michael - Mr. Peat: I am pretty sure it will depend on the browser you are running. Look at my post again......I'm betting you guys are running IE6 or something other than IE7 or FFox 2.0.....??

Michael - your link redirect opens the exact same message for me in both my browsers (IE7 and FFox 2.0 here).

Cheers - B.B.S.

I only use Firefox. IE is so proned to every virus attack known to man kind.

And to clarify I am using Firefox 2.0

BBS, You're right, its a browser - I'm using FF 1.5.0.9

ps. Holts also work with IE 6.0 :)

Yeah, I'm using Firefox 2, which worked fine until yesterday afternoon. Only on the Mac version I don't get their explanation message, only: "The connection has timed out. The server at info.holts.com is taking too long to respond."

Hope this is fixed soon. I can understand being wary of IE, but Firefox is one of the only standards-compliant browsers out there. Guess I'd better place an order and take advantage, huh?

I used to shop from Holts but stopped a long time ago. Once they killed the point system for loyalty, they lost my business. I'd rather pay a little extra at the B&M shop.

...well, free shipping and a couple of decent sticks is not a bad deal. I'll give them "high priority" for any orders in the next couple of weeks.

I suppose that on the one hand, lots of folks manage to upgrade their web sites without breaking it for folks with up to date browsers but on the other hand, if it gets broken, I'd say Holt's did the right thing.

They are on my good list; they've hooked me up with hard to find smokes more than once.....decent guys, in my book.....

I like holts. I had a small issue with loging on with my user name last week and I happened to mention it on a cigar board. One of the customer service guys from Holts saw my thread and PM'ed me with the solution to my problem and then told me if I was going to place a order to e-mail him my order number and he would throw something extra with my purchase. Three days later my order arrived and inside the package not only was the cigars I ordered, but also was a sampler of their new Old Henry brand by Pepin for free  A free sampler pack of cigars for the little problem I had. I think Holts is doing a great job, IMOH.

I tried with FF 2.0 today and was unable to bring up Holt's homepage.

Then I remembered that my computer came with IE 5 or 6 preloaded,
so I brought up the old IE and Holt's website came up fine.

Only a bit of an extra hassle.

Chemyst
