I've had a few good ones in the past, but recently the last two Hemmingway SS' I've smoked have been so bad that I have to put them down before I'm done with the first third. The first one was about a month ago, which put me off of them until I decided to buy another and give it a try, which was also bad. They had a harsh, sour taste to them, none of the normal spices. The second one had the same affect as eating a sour candy, which I've never been a fan of.

What do you guys suppose the problem was on these? Did I stumble on some that were too young? Would specific abuse in their past cause these problems? I have another one that I ordered with the second one sitting in my humidor, but to be honest I'm not real anxious to smoke it.

What's your level of quality control? Have the two bad ones come from the same source? i.e. same B&M, same box?

They all taste like crap. Don't waste any more of your money on them.

Clearly I'm not a Hemi SS fan.

Funny you mention this. I've got two boxes currently, well 2 partial boxes, bought within about 3 months of one another. One of them is as you described, the other is great. Even visually the 2nd box doesn't look nearly as good. Maybe we got boxes produced on training week?

Lol, wouldn't surprise me.

No, it wasn't a metallic taste, more like a sour candy, or bread that had gone bad.

They both did come the same place, Tampa Humi, but over a month apart. I've received quite a few cigars from them, and humidification has never been a problem. I got a Hemmingway WOAN in the same shipment that was delicious.

Overhumidified cigars found at some B&Ms almost always give me that "bread gone bad" taste. I've never found a properly humidified cigar with that same taste. JMHO.

*I'm lucky to have found a great B&M where this isn't an issue...

My GF loves the Short Story ( next to the Opus damn she's an expensive date!)
I have purchased her a couple boxes and she's never complained about one.

The first and last short story that I tried, I had the same experience, bad bitter taste. It sounds like I just got a dud, and I should revisit one of these.
