Well, my Citizen Eco-Drive finally took a turn for the worst...

I know there are a few folks on this site that are into nice timepieces. I have a budget of about $400 dollars and I would like to get some feedback and/or suggestions about a nice watch. I am totally open to brand suggestions and whatever you wanna throw at me... Thanks in advance!

I have a citizen eco too, similar to yours with a different face and a smoother band. I really liked them. I also looked into the Seiko Kinetics when I was buying it. Instead of light, it uses body heat.

Surprised your citizen took a turn for the worst. Did you beat it up? I've found it to be quite robust.

Ya, I am pretty hard on my watches... Thats also why I give myself a small budget, its not that I cant afford more, its just that I know I will be replacing it faster than most ppl... I will have to look into the Seiko, never even heard about that "kinetics"...

Hate to burst your bubble there Glacies but Seiko Kinetics is self winding from the motion of the user, not their body heat. Aside from that, I too have a Citizen Eco-Drive but don't beat the crap out of it, that's what the G-Shock is for. Love the Citizen though!

Fossil. It's on the cheaper side and durable, atleast IMHO. I have this one, only it has a round face. I've had it for two years, good watch.

Although looking at there site, this one looks pretty cool.

Kinda Ironic, I was actually thinking about getting rid of my Movado

For that price range I would take a look at swiss army. I have a couple of their watches and I absolutely love them. Also if you are looking for more of an everyday watch, I wear this one which can be found for about $350.00

X2 on the Swiss army watch. When I enlisted in 1991 I picked one up. I think they were around 150.00 back then, but it still works great! The only thing I have needed to replace was the band.

Edit to add Linky.

This is the one that I have, still sold for 150.00 apparently. I have literally beat the crap out of it for over 15 years.

No biggie. I figured I messed something up about that. I guess the word "kinetic" makes more sense now.

My wife and I both have Tissots. I have the PR50 Chrono and have been real happy with it. I am pretty hard on things and so far not a scratch on the face.

Good luck with your search.

I too have a Tissot. Mine is one of their more basic automatics, a simple two-tone, white face, with date display. I've had it for about 5 years now, and it's been a great watch. The band has some minor scratches, but nothing out of the ordinary being an everyday watch. The crystal doesn't have a scratch on it, and I have smacked it pretty hard several times, cringed, looked at it, and sighed with relief.

I have the same watch, luckily mine still runs.

How long had you had it before it took a dump?

Face scratched, bracelet worn to all hell, chrono buttons don't like to cooperate... Just time for a new watch... Like I stated earlier, I'm rough on my watches... And no I won't buy something cheap! Even though I know I will destroy it, looks and quality are important to me.
