So, last night I take the bride out for a little music and beer. Being a long time fan of REO I figured why not. Both groups are from the area here and played the bar scene in the early 70's around here. So, that gave them some incentive to play a good show. Head East pretty much sucked, give or take the two hits they had. REO played a great set, but still sounded like they did the first time I saw them when I was around 8 or 9. LMAO!! They do have a new CD coming out next year and played a couple of cuts from it. Typical Kevin Cronin songs, but still listenable. Drank a lot of $4.50 beers and now need to get back to owrk and sweat away the slight hang-over.

REO sounding like REO sounds great to me, I hate hearing a band live and then they sound nothing like they do on an Album.

Who the hell is Head East?

Never Been Any Reason (Save My Life)

Did you see any action? Did you make any friends?
Would you like some affection? Before I leave again.

I've been walking behind you, since you've been able to see.
There's never been any reason, for you to think about me.

Did you have any bad dreams, did you break any glass?
Would you be my companion, is there even a chance?

You've been talking in circles, since I've been able to cry.

There's never been any reason, for never telling me why, yea, yea.

Save my life, I'm going down for the last time.
Woman with the sweet lov'in, better than a white line.
Bring a good feeling ain't had in such a long time.
Save my life, I'm going down for the last time.

Have you ever been lonely? Do you have any fun?
Do you ever think of me? I'm just no one. Yea.
You never give me no answer, you never tell me the truth.
There's never been any reason. For me to think about you.
There's never been any reason.
There's never been any reason. Yea.
There's never been any reason.

Save my life, I'm going down for the last time.
Woman with the sweet lov'in, better than a white line.
Don't you know she could bring a good feeling ain't had in such a long time.
Save my life, I'm going down for the last time.
Whoa.
Save my life, I'm going down for the last time.
Save my life, I'm going down for the last time.
Save my life, I'm going down for the last time.
Save my life, I'm going down for the last time.

I suppose if REO was playing while I was drinking a beer I might listen as well. Not a huge fan but they did have a couple of decent songs, I think.

...wow, you guys are really old....

Head East was our "party music" band during and right after I graduated from high school a couple of thousand years ago. I liked REO's stuff but like Head East, only a couple of their songs are "memorable", IMHO....

I haven't listened to either of these bands' songs in....years.

Cheers - B.B.S.

One of my fave REO tunes was "Roll With The Changes" from "You Can Tune A Piano But You Can't Tuna Fish"...

I'm a fan... just haven't had the urge to dig out the LPs... until now.

Every generation says the music of the kids sucks. For this generation it's true though. The top 40 never looked so dismal.

Back in the 70's I saw Uriah Heep and Head East open for Jethro Tull. All three of those bands are an aquired taste.

I saw REO Speedwagon in a very small venue around that time. There was around 1000 there. I really enjoyed them.

Wow Matt you take your wife to all the best places! LMAO REO now that brings back memories.

Took my wife and kids to see a new rapper call Matisyahu some hippie who found judaism and raps with hebrew mixed with his songs. Anyway the opening act is this group called Polyphonic Spree OMG this band looked like they all had taken swigs from the JONESTOWN KOOLAID well. Wild and crazy and on top of it the rapper was pretty darn good! First time my kids experienced an outdoor concert and needless to say I got alot of questions regarding the funny smell in the air.

Hmph .... I suppose if you say the pop top 40 I would agree, but I have heard quite a bit of good music lately from some very good young songwriters who are also fine musicians.

I ran sound for Head East in the bar in our home town in the late 80s, the only original member back then was the Keyboard player. Still pretty cool though.
