In women of child bearing age, the RhoGam would be given but for men and older women it's not necessary. There's about a 30% chance an Rh Neg patient would convert the Anti-D from the Rh Pos blood given. These are only given out when they feel an hour or less would be life vs. death. As soon as that first tube of blood hits the blood bank, its less than a few minutes to have a specific type to switch to.
