Thank you Lady and Gentlemen. I really expected it to be just another day but it really turned out well. Julie did a hell of job putting things together remotely from Atlanta. I walked into the shop to find a bag on the counter with a nice coffee mug and a bag of 'Pacific Northwest' coffee from harpu and a VERY GENEROUS bomb from vin#.
I went to work and in the afternoon, Jim (harpu) brought out a very tasty birthday cake (which I had to share
), then sonavabum and his lovely wife drop in and wow me with such generosity that I still have no words.
OK, the day should be back to normal right? Not even close, My son and daughter come to the shop to give me their present, lots of hugs and kisses, some Killer Bean Coffee that was sent by a member in Maine ( I'll look at the box when I FINALLY get home and thank you properly) and an acoustic guitar. I'm floored! Then a customer sees the guitar and pulls out his harmonica and starts jammin with me. OK, jammin's not really accurate. I fumbled through some almost chords while he played. Then I handed the guitfiddle over to him and he did some amazing things with it. I swear, with his beard and talent, I'd have sworn he was a member of ZZ TOP ( but they were performing near Houston last night so he couldn't have been...could he?).
Then to top the day, the new humidor wasn't finished so I had to spend the night in the shop while the contractor worked. So today I build the 'Pepin Shrine'.
To everyone who had a part in making this a birthday to remember, you have my deepest and sincerest thanks.
edit to add: AND this morning we became the only retailer in Texas to carry Killer Beans! I'm already planning the Killer Bean Tasting! Thank you Jerry!
