This surely is a good way to get your foot in the door around here. I tried to be helpful to you when things got a little rough last month, but the attitude you're showing know says you really don't give a shit about this forum or it's members. I'm a newbie too and I've never gotten bashed or flamed, but then again, I've never shown any kind of disrespect like you are now.

jonesy, i don't give a shit about people who won't allow me to have my own opinion without bashing me. Wurm brought up a topic and people shit on him for his opinion. I backed him up because I'd seen the posts that he was talking about over that last month. Now I'm the target cause i'm the newb. Its totally ok.. I don't actually care, i'll go away now..

This has nothing to do about people not allowing you to have or voice your own opinion......it's the way you're going about voicing it. No, you're not the target because you're a newb either, it's because you've painted that big ole bullseye on your back.

I guess it was directed at me. Although...............I am rather confused at this statement. By stating there were a "lot of crosses laying around," I wasn't implying that we were crucifying you. Rather, you were putting yourself up there. You know.....being a martyr?
 
Wurm, although it seems to be unpopular, I'm with you on this one.

Most newbies want to ask questions and are looking for dialogue with other cigar smokers. When you are new to anything there is a level of exitement and interest. I remember when I first started buying premium cigars and got off the Swisher Sweets, I asked a ton of questions. If there weren't forums to discuss the hobby and develop my interest, I wouldn't have 4 humidors and hundreds of smokes that I tend to weekly.

Referring questions regarding cigars to the "Use the Search" on a cigar forum is like everytime your child asks you a question about something instead of answering them you refer them to the encyclopedias and dictionaries in the bookcase. Eventually your kid will quit asking you questions and look it up in a book and go away.

I notice that this forum gets less traffic than some of the other forums. Maybe if it were more novice friendly more newbies would join, get involved and stick around. I'm saying that we need to bite our tongues or answer the "do you cut or punch" and "what's the proper RH" questions with a smile. We were all new to this at some point.

I really think some of you newer guys are missing the point of all this. I am am member of several different boards and there is a reason why this one is "home." It is because this place does not hand everything out (i.e. knowledge, respect, admiration) on a silver platter like those "other" boards do. You earn everything you get here.....good and bad. This place is the friendliest board on the net....bar none. If it isn't your cup of tea.....go to the others.

Yall are kidding right? Everyone is worried about hurting someone's feeling by telling them to use the search? Please take your dresses off. If someone gets their feelings hurt because they were told to use search they won't last long here. About once every 3 or 4 months a hand full of newbs attempt to tell the community how to re invent the wheel. It ain't gonna happen.... period..... end of story.

Hell, if you had used the search before posting this thread you would have already known this.
 
Let me see. 4,836 members which is over 4,000 more since I joined. That works out to an increase of over 1,000 per year. Posts have gone from under 70,000 when I joined to over 523,000 now. I'm guessin' that noobs with enough IQ to understand their questions have been asked before stick around and the others fodder up other boards. Feel free to figure out where you want to be.
