Gurkha Regent Toro

Nice review, I also recently had the pleasure of smoking a Gurkha Regent. It was definitely a different cigar for me, as I was smoking it I couldn't nail down exactly what I was tasting only knew that I really liked it. After reading your review I think I may have to pick up a few more.

I just want to point out that I felt the same way. Couldn't really put my finger on the tastes - but knew that they were different and the most important thing was I thoroughly enjoyed it.

While smoking it, I wasn't enjoying this cigar - I was enjoying life and this cigar was part of it. Great experience. Will smoke another this weekend :) (I wonder if it will be as enjoyable after another Redskins loss - oh wait, they don't play this weekend  )

Hello guys,

One of your fellow newbies here. I have to say this about Gurkha: I really, really enjoyed them when they were still more of a boutique cigar. I actually was sad when I saw them start showing up in my local smoke shops (because I knew people would drive the price of them through the roof and alas that has happened).

I discovered Gurkhas through CI about 4 years ago and my first were the Expeditions. I have not had an Expedition in a very long time but all I can remember of those is that the wrappers were smooth as silk, construction was perfect, burn was perfect, and the ash on that girl was firm! I don't know if I would be describing a flavor or a characteristic of the smoke when I say the word that most came to my mind while smoking them was CREAM. Delicious! At that point I had been smoking cigars for about 6 years and they were a little too mild for my tastes but I still had an appreciation for what he had done. I am willing to bet the Expeditions turned a lot of guys who might have a cigar here and there into bonafide lovers of the leaf.

I still have some Gurkha Regent Toros in my humidor, they are all about 3 years aged in my hands, and I save them for special nights when I want something that tastes different than most other cigars. These always provide me with that experience and that is where I give Kazaid the most credit, he didn't put out a cigar line that tastes a lot like others. Most notably for me are the flavors of dark cocoa, black coffee, black pepper and toasty leather when I smoke the Regents. I really, really like that combination. Man, I think I might have to go home and burn one tonight! I have some Double Maduros still, bought a five pack when they first hit the shelves, 3 of those are left as well and I always hesitate to smoke them without good reason.

My other favorites by him are the Gold and Signature 101 as I prefer a more full flavored cigar.

Sorry for my ramblings, just brought back some pleasant memories and I thought I would share a little with this fine group!.................
