Looking for suggestions for reasonably priced sticks for grass cutting, working in the garage, cleaning the basement - you get the idea. Stumbled upon La Vieja Habana's from Drew Estate recently - not "bad" for the price.

Try some of the machine mades from Havana. Quinteros and Piedras are particularly good

what price are we talking here?

JR Alternatives are OK for the cheapest of the cheap, as are Tampa Sweethearts/Flor de Ybor City

My local shop has the Luna Azul (I think they're corona grande's - 6 1/2 X 45) bundles for $9.99 (25 cigars). These were in his humi for about 4 years at 70/70 - nice light to medium smoke / very pleasant - even nicer with the age on them. A lot of the guys at the shop have been picking them up for exactly that reason - an excellent yard 'gar. I've had one and it is a very nice smoke for the money.

If you're interested, I'll pick you up some - with tax and shipping it should come out to about $15.00. (2 bundles, with shipping, is $27.00). Shoot me a PM if interested.

George

(here's a write up on them: Luna Azul write up)

Something in the 3 to 5 dollar range?

I would go with the padron regular line (like 2000s and 4000s) without a doubt, followed in a close second by JR Ultimates (NOT alternatives!)

Heck, forget the grass cuttin cigars and go straight to the grass killin cigars.. ie..acid, lars, etc..

For 3 to 5 bucks I would go with LGC's or Casa Torano/Exodus/etc. Heck, to me a yardgar would be under a buck a piece- bite it, light it, smoke it, toss it. IMHO only of course.

Any specific vitolas you would suggest on the Quintero's Lucasbuck?

I think if you toss those cigars around on your grass in California, you may be subject to prosecution under the "improper disposal of toxic substances" statute.

There are many - Matt had a thread a while back devoted to favorite sticks Under $5 in $1 increments. You can find it here.

I like to try out cigars I haven't had befor when doing chores around the house
cbid $10-$15 5ers are good for this. I have found some everyday smokes
this way. I waste some, but the thrill is in the hunt :D
we all like like to find the low cost cigar that tastes good to us

Brevas and Nacionales are my favorites. The Minis and Clubs are great too if you like cigarillos.
