I just tried to get to the forums using Google Chrome and got the following error:

More information on this error
Below is the original error message

Error 2 (net::ERR_FAILED): Unknown error.

Has anyone been able to access CP with Chrome?

hrmm.. interesting. I haven't been able to connect Chrome to any Invision boards. I'll have to poke around some more..

I have no problems connecting. I actually like the way the forum looks in Chrome.

A-Ha! Found it: it has trouble with detecting proxy info (I was using it on my work computer which, when connected to the VPN, has a proxy detection). Now it works. :p

I can not even get Chrome to work at all onmy laptop. app failed to start properly...chrome.exe

So, I guess no chrome for me

Which OS? I think it only had a couple of Windows supported types at this point. It's probably not worth it just yet as there has been some DoS and other major flaws found in it already.

chrome browser is the devil lol. google basically wants your surfing habits so they can place ads on your pages that reflect what you look at. hell even ie8 beta has features in it to cut google bots and history off. i would be very careful using the google browser unless you dont mind them sharing your surfing habits with other companies like yahoo and such. google has turned into the next double click, they just sell your info to whomever will buy it. just my 2 cents worth.

my laptop is running XP media edition, can not remember what service pack....

it works fin on the older desktop, as a matter of fact I am using it now. Might just have to give up and learn FireFox.

OK, I'll be Mr. Dumas and ask - What is Chrome? :0 be gentle for Gawd's sake. :) ???

A new web browser (in the vein of IE, Firefox, Opera, Mosaic, etc) that Google has launched.

I probably won't keep it, as I like the Mozilla/Firefox philosophy in general, but thusfar Chrome seems to make pages look good and load faster than IE or FF.

Definitely does. Try doing a comparison using this tool: http://www2.webkit.org/perf/sunspider-0.9/sunspider.html

My IE6 was about 100 times slower than Firefox, which is twice as slow as Chrome.

It's probably because it's "Media Edition" which is a specialized version of XP.

I've been using Safari on WindowsXP lately and I really like it. I've not looked at Chrome yet, but I don't really trust Google with any kind of useful information about myself. I'll pass if they're collecting.

Actually, that's one of the main reasons I won't be using Chrome. Their EULA has the following:

You retain copyright and any other rights you already hold in Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services. By submitting, posting or displaying the content you give Google a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services. This license is for the sole purpose of enabling Google to display, distribute and promote the Services and may be revoked for certain Services as defined in the Additional Terms of those Services.

No way am I letting the possibility of stuff that shouldn't be shared be shared like this.

I just installed it, and it seems to be working fine with Vista and Invision. It doesn't render everything correctly though. This looks a lot like Safari. I think I'll stick to Firefox...

It uses the same rendering engine, WebKit.

JavaScript is fast on Chrome.

caveat: It loads googleupdate into your autorun ... need to use regedit to remove it.

Isn't that pretty much hearsay? And lol if you think that doesn't happen with IE, FF, Safari or Opera I have news for you... :sign:

http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.aspx?i=3398&p=1 here is Anandtech's opinion on it.

I'm not installing a beta, but once the final release is ready I plan on giving it a whirl.
