Good beer day..

So last week the keg ran dry so I had a request out for a couple of different beers and the one that came in was the DogFish Head 60. Not my favorite beer but a damn good, well balanced IPA. I was happy with it although I was hoping to get something that would absolutely destroy me with hops..

Today I get back from a trip and have a message from my beer guy "Jonas, I have another keg for you, if its still full bring the DFH back. Trust me."

So I head over with the DFH 60 and oh mama, there she is.. A 16 gallon keg of Russian River Blind Pig! Just last week I was talking with a buddy about how that would be my ultimate keg. This beer is nothing short of being raped by copious amounts of hops. Its like chewing a handful of those bitter, grassy flowers until you can't see straight!!

Anyway, had to share my wonderful beer day with you all.

Wow, from what I've heard, this would almost be as mindbending as a keg of Furious :thumbs: Right now, my dream keg would be of Great Lakes Burning River. Man, that beer...

Never had this beer, but I've heard a lot about it. Jonas, do you happen to know the hop profile in this, and IBU's? I only have a clone batch recipe for it, and I'm always leary of trusting them. Thanks. BTW, I might just have to fly down to see you and help you drink that! Any Ten Fiddy left? lol
 
Nice score. Unfortunately, I've never had any of the Russian River IPAs.

I saw the Mikkeller Black in the store the other day, but couldn't pull the trigger on a $17 pint!

Yep, $17 per pint was the damage! I grabbed a few for now, and held the rest in my name for a later date to pick up! They only recieved 20 bottles, so I was told, and I think I nabbed 12 total. But most I will have to wait on (X-mas present).

I've heard it's an amazing, rediculous, overwhelming version of their Black Hole which I enjoy. It is "supposed" to rival Beer Geek Breakfast, Dark Lord, and Surly Darkness...but THAT is a huge statement to make!!!!! I'll be the judge of that one!!!!!! :whistling: Oh, maybe Alex can put his .02 cents in as well, as we will be comparing them tomorrow at the Belicoso event!!!!! :thumbs:
 
UPDATE -

After sampling Mikkeller Black, along with an '08 Dark Lord, I've come up with a conclusion on what is the better beer.....................................

It is a tie! Holy shit, I didn't think this beer would even contend with Dark Lord, but it really did. What Mikkeller lacked in balance, it made up for is shear power and flavor...I'll do a full review soon enough. These are officially my #1, #2 imperial stout now (haven't had ten fiddy, yet so nobody get on me). :p

***I'm going to do a blind battle between the stouts soon, maybe this weekend (or around thanksgiving)....the contestants.....FFF Dark Lord, Mikkeller Black, Surly Darkness, Mikkeller Beer Geek Breakfast, Founders Breakfast Stout (not quite good enough, don't know if I'll include), Stone Imperial Russian Stout, Goose Island County Bourbon Stout, and (Barrel-Aged?) Blackout Stout...will have to check inventory and what I can get.

Anyone want to help me? I don't think I can drink all this....without passing the f*ck out!!!!! Also, does anyone have any other reccomendations for other contestants?

I'll be posting up a full review once this is done...well maybe the next morning, I mean afternoon, lol.

Oh yeah! I totally forgot about World Wide, too. Damn. Maybe I'll have to break this up into a 2-day session. Alesmith is a definite contender.
