Thanks for inviting me Brian

Looks like I'm the only 'gray hair' in the bunch so far

Watching this list grow is very cool...we can see a lot of thought is going into this one!

I can't wait to start.....

PS...remember gents, #2 likes his early mornings as well when you post your guess...

I would also like to be considered for this pass.
Contest guess is 25 July 0900

CONTEST TIME!
First contest for a pass spot is open now. All you have to do is be the closest in time and date (EST) on my 2925th post and you're automatically in. 1 guess per person with no edits! Guesses must be in by Tuesday the 22nd @6pm EST. Good luck people!

Disclaimer: I reserve the right to bounce ANYONE from this pass due to asshattery!

7/27 @ 6pm EDT

Just to quell any expectations of ISOM's in this pass......there will be none! I don't want to worry about fakes coming into the pass. I'm fairly well versed in sources that are credible, but I don't know where yours came from. I don't want pics, you giving up where you got them, how much they were, how they're still wet and smell like a barnyard, no pm's about it! Thank you and you may now go back about your business.

Ahh this must be the first rule. ;)

#2...

If everyone would read through previous Pass threads as you suggested, you would notice that ISOM are not common during a Newbie Pass and most of the time are not permitted...at least that was my impression from all the reading I have done over the months since I joined CP.

Add in the issues that Rod and the CP Family have been dealing with recently regarding fakes from what would be considered "reliable sources"...to the point that Wilkey had to go belly up and plead not to send him anymore cigars for authentication!

Newbie Pass = KISS Methodology

....or as the Pass title says, "Getting Your Feet Wet Pass"....CC have you in the Deep End of the pool!

ISOM require a much broader knowledge into the cigar experience...just trusting your source is not enough. If a person has to go to another CP member to authenticate their purchases, that in itself should tell you that more studying, reading, smoking and discussion are needed to hone your skills to attempt this purchase on your own. We're all here to help each other, but to 'outsource' putting your fears to rest as your sole option is just unacceptable in my opinion.

Nobody knows everything about cigars and that's the reason we bounce ideas off of each other on the different boards, but we all should aspire to the day when we can look at a CC cigar, touch & feel it, smell it, then light it, take a few puffs and say to yourself with all confidence..."what a piece of sh*t counterfeit!" Trust me, over time it will become second nature...but it ONLY comes with experience, there are no short cuts.

That being said...I've got my shoes and sox off standing at the water's edge waiting to get my fuggin feet wet!

I hope we don't have an Indian Summer

I would love to be in on this if you would have me. :) My guess is 7/25 at 2:32 pm EST.

Excelently worded! I also was not expecting any ISOMs in this pass, the only thing I'm worried about is not having a bit enough range of cigars to make good puts, so i'm gonna have to do some varied buying in the next few months :)(not that I need an excuse!).

This is the sole purpose in me making the "No ISOM" post. I just didn't get quite as Wilkey-esque as you did. You brought up many fine points and I would say that you're MUCH more knowledgable in the CC sector than I, but I can hold my own for the most part. Newbie passes for the most part don't allow ISOM's because we're dealing with newer members who may have used questionable sources to obtain their cigars unknowingly. The first pass I was in allowed CC's......but, you were expected to be grilled upon making a trade so the host knew who you had bought from. To me that does no good because what if you're putting in a Sig VI and you pm me you're source of XXX, which I know is a legit source, but you really got it from XYZ whom is a questionable dealer and then you plead innocence when the person trading for it cries foul? Every passes rules are strictly left to the pass host. Granted there are general rules we all follow, but if I wanted, I could impose a CC/NC acceptable trade. This generally wouldn't happen but it would be solely my discretion (only if I'm running a major pass and not a newbie pass mind you!).

Gary, you have just been named team Leader of the "Getting your feet wet pass part II.

Thanks for the contest, Brian. :)

Since I haven't gotten a response back from the 5th person I invited, I decided to randomly pull a name out of those of you that posted your interest. The names were folded, put into a bowl, and my wife pulled the next participant........

Doc Wylie!
