Get your kids in off the street.....

First off thanks for all the congrats!!! It was a long 4 days...

It has been three years in the making and we found out she was expecting three days before a fertility surgery!!! We decided to have a natural birth with no drugs or anything and spent countless hours in classes and praticing for the big day, wathing what she ate, got exercise all that good stuff, it might be our only shot. I mean all consumed with a natural birth, we wanted to give her every benefit we could.

Then she was late, then her blood pressure got a little high, then her fluid started getting low and her placenta was aged. Not good so our midwife suggested she be induced. UGH all our hopes and dreams were slipping away it seemed. Well Laura was induced and no progress was being made, she wasn't dialating due to the fact that things were misaligned and the baby was in the facing the wrong way and during all this the baby started showing signs of distress. SOOO we were told a C-section was in order. We were devastated, so after we get calmed down and get ready to be rushed off, Laura heads out the door only to return a few minutes later. You talk about a rush, I thought things were goin south. Turned out another baby was worse off than ours so they had priority in the surgery room, so there we sat for two hrs just hoping our baby was fine. I was crying, she was crying, hell the whole room was crying... During this time the two Dr.s are having it out in the hall way adding more stress, (turned out to be a big deal later we found out) as to who had priority.

FINALLY they come get Laura and with in 5 mins of the spinal tap, the baby was out a cryin away... Now for some blessed reason we were told our surgeon was the best around, and sure enough, if it wasn't for the staples you couldn't find the incision. But the main thing is both Momma and baby are stellar. My bad ass wife even walked her little self out the door two days later. SO things didn't go as planned but it went as well as it could. Poor Laura was just let down, of all the people we know we were the only ones with out a natural childbirth, but hey everyone is fine.

Now the only thing is GAS sheesh this little gal makes me look like a school girl, WOWZA, such noises from a little package.

I give my wife all the praise I can, I mean she could hardly move and did the best she could as far as breastfeeding in bed and taking care of the baby. I personally got 7 hrs of sleep from thurs night, till Sun night, and got home and just collapsed, got the house ready and brought her home Monday after noon.

Hope I didn't bore ya, but it was a ride.

Cheers
Shane

Not a bore, Shane. I recall my feeling of pride through you. Congratulations to you and your wife. After all, you did the hard part. Now comes the fun part. You'll be walking her down the aisle before you know it.

CRAZY toes..... You'll notice the the collar on her leg. It is a tracking device, if it loses skin contact the nurses comes sprinting down the hall to find out where the baby is. They can track the baby in the hospital, if it loses contact for three minutes, every door in the whole building, closes and locks, all the elevators cease working until the problem is resolved, pretty nifty I thought. SO yea I had to see if it really worked :whistling: ..... Just the first stage and YUP they came runnin and ended up using a piece of tape "to ensure it doesn't happen again" whoops...

I just saw this thread..............congratulations Shane!!!! Glad to hear everyone is doing well!

The wife and I did the same thing in the Natural Birth approach.............42 hours of active labor, who knows how many NCAA games watched, and a c-section later our daughter Charlotte was born. Even the best laid plans can go wrong and no fault of anyone's in particular.

The important thing is everyone is healthy and strong!
