I seem to recall we had one of these last year, so I'll start one for this year. I figure it keeps the board from getting cluttered by condensing all fantasy football related topics to one thread. So I'll start...

Our league expanded from 12 teams last year to 16 teams this year. I've never played in a league that large, and I have a crappy draft position (11th). Our draft is this Saturday. Does anyone have any experience playing in large leagues who could offer advice on draft strategy. Our league awards 6 pts. per TD pass so QB's are valuable. But I'm afraid if I try to grab an elite QB early in either Round 1 or 2, I'll hurt my team b/c I'll only have a shot at 1 every week starter at RB. Advice?

RB first two rounds with you drafting that late in the first. Or, if Moss/T.O. is still around, I would look at one of those elite receivers. You can always get a serviceable QB in round 3/4. 16 teams is a huge league, good luck with that.

16 teams is a big league but 6pts per touchdown is decent also. Alot of teams are RB by committe now. So there really are a decent amount of mid range backs that will get touches again. The problem is there are not many big backs out there anymore.

Depending on your scoring system for RBs (if they get points per reception and receiving yards) you may want to go with a WR or one of the top 3 QBs. The top RBs with no committee will be off the board (LT, LJ, Westbrook and Gore) but you may get a shot at Moss, Owens or Romo and then pick up an RB in round 2. With the emergence of committee RBs now, there will be value in the middle rounds especially with the injuries that usually happen in the RB category. I have the #3 pick in my draft so I will get one of the top flite RBs but I plan on using my next couple of picks on WRs and will look for a solid QB and committee RB after that. Good luck to you and let us know how it turns out.

I love 16 team leagues, because it requires more research/knowledge of the lower tier guys, than being lucky and getting the surprise breakout players through the waiver wire or however your league does FA pickups. I also think it makes draft position less important for the same reason. I think a lot of people reach for RB simply because they're running backs. If all the top notch RBs are gone, don't be afraid to take a top 2 WR or QB, you'll be able to find a solid RB with your next pick still.

I just drafted 12th in a 14 team draft and can you believe Tom Brady was there for me. You never know what bone head picks will happen ahead of you.

Ok here are the details, 12 team keeper league, my team and scoring below:
QB's - A. Rodgers, B. Farve. K. Boller
RB's - L. Johnson, F. Taylor, M. Jones-Drew, C. Johnson, J. Charles, C. Henry, C. Taylor (Hou), L. Jordan
WR's - T. Owens, B. Edwards, S. Moss, R. Brown, R. Meachem, D. Stallworth, J. Gaffney, C. Henry, S. Moss (NYG)
K - N. Folk, M. Crosby
DEF - Chargers, Bills

Scoring - 4 pts pass td, 6 pts rush/rec td, 1 pt per 45 pass, 1 pt per 15 rush/rec, 2 pts 300 pass yds, 3 pts 100 rec yards, NO PPR.

Start 1 QB, 2 RB & 3 WR or 1 RB & 4 WR, No TE, 1 K & 1 DEF

The Question is this: Do I trade Stallworth and Folk for Antonio Gates and David Akers or Santana Moss and Crosby for Antonio Gates and Ryan Longwell??

I need help at my wr3 position. I drafted stallworth as a handcuff for edwards, moss actually as my wr3 (yuck). Really, I am going to make some trade, but which one gives me more depth at wr? I would say keeping moss does, but then Im starting 2 gb players all the time. And moss has really done nothing since his breakout year. I also play this other owner twice this year, he is in my division. Any thoughts?

go for Gates

I tried. Well I mean I accepted his offer. Now he wants to think about it. Typical ASSHOLE move he pulls everyyear. Want to know why?

Cause another owner, from the info I can glean is offering a 7th rd pick next year or a 6th rd pick in 2010 for gates. Now you want to know the craptastic move he is going to pull (i can see this coming from a mile away)? He will take moss and crosby. So he upgrades at kicker, and it doesn't cost him anything really. Then he will oversell moss for a 7th or a 6th in 2010. He gets the best of both worlds. I paid a 9th for moss, he isn't even close to being worth a 7 or 6th 2 years later.

Some might call that shrewd dealing, but I think its crap. The only reason he hasn't accepted my deal is that he is right now trying to convince the 3rd owner that moss is gold. He is trading him a player he doesn't have yet.

I have half a mind to backdoor him on this one myself, and let him sell that owner on moss for me. Then I will go and trade a 4th rd pick next year 4.2 to be exact and moss for colston. Its the 2nd pick overall after keepers.

However, I feel bad for doing that. Colston is probably worth a little more. I don't really have much more I want to throw at him though. And this is a brand new owner in the league, who graciously paid a bunch of money (3 times cpffl3) to take over a team blind after someone dropped out.

This guy is my freind but he's known to do this, and known to target new owners to screw over. He will tout how great a deal it is, but he knows he is full of it.

Colston's a top tier guy and should be one of the top 24 guys in the league. I say, let the newbie in on the asshattedness by the other guy, and go after Colston yourself.

We had our keeper league auction last night, and here are the RB I ended up with :

Johnson, Chris TEN RB
Lynch, Marshawn BUF
Stewart, Jonathan CAR
Taylor, Fred JAC
Turner, Michael ATL
White, LenDale TEN

It's 6 pt for a TD and 1 pt every 10 yds. No points for receptions. I'm gonna start Lynch for sure, but can't decide who to use for my second receiver. I'm leaning towards Turner. What do you guys think?

I know absolutely nothing about FFL's (except that cool abbreviation) and my wife knows slightly less. But in an effort to fit in and be a team player at work she joined their office league. This really ought to be amusing watching the two of us who know zilch about football try and stumble our way through the league this year.

She had her draft last night, here's who she ended up with, how did she do?:

LaDainian Tomlinson RB
Matt Hasselbeck QB
Jamal Lewis RB
Santonio Holmes WR
Kellen Winslow TE
Julius Jones RB
Joey Galloway WR
Marc Bulger QB
Donte Stallworth WR
Stephen Gostkowski PK
Maurice Morris RB
Donald Lee TE
NE Defense
Devin Hester WR

Now I guess she has to choose her lineup for the first week.

Thats a good team, I'm guessing you had #1 pick in the draft, hence how you got LT. You have serious holes at WR though, just about everything past holmes but having the #1 pick I could see how that happens. QB could be hit or miss on you as well. I would try and package up one of your QB's to trade up in the WR area.

As for a lineup I would go:

Hasselbeck
LT
Lewis
Holmes
Stallworth
Winslow
Gostkowski
NE

Assuming you run 2 rb / 2 wr. If you run 3 wr, I would add in Hester. I don't know how a player who misses all of trainign camp and all of the preseason (galloway) declares he is ready. Maybe he is but I'm not sold. Also, there are reports that Lewis was back at practice (though limited). Personally with such a big game against the cowboys, I think he plays and should get 1 score.

What was your first instinct? Go with that, as I have both of them getting 260-280 yds passing and 2 TD's.

Ravens defense isn't what it used to be, and this may possibly be the only game that Ocho Cinco is worth a damn.

Atlantas defense is suspect as well, and Kitna has played really well in the preseason, as did the rest of the team, going 4-0. Then again, they are riding a 4 game winning streak? This still is the lions we are talking about.

Which QB should I start this week?

Palmer vs. Ravens

or

Kitnas vs. Falcons

Always hard to sit Palmer, however, Kitna is going up against the 23rd pass defense from last year. The Falcons don't have D'Angelo Hall anymore either.

This still is the lions we are talking about.

Hey now!

My gut told me Palmer, especially if Reed doesn't play, but my heart is saying Kitna.

Sorry, I am a michigan resident near detroit my entire life. I've been burned more times than not by the lions. I drank the 6-2 kool-aid last year, and i'm not ready to drink it again just yet. lol
