Just heard back from Backdash of cigar utopia. It turns out that clancydabulldog at his site is not gaylover. Evidently old gamey likes to take the monikers of stand up people elsewhere and try his swindling techniques at other boards. If you deal with clancy, make sure it's only through CU.
