I had the opportunity to visit Club Macanudo in NYC this past wednesday. The place is owned by General Cigar. Its located on 26 East 63 street (between Park and Madison) in New York. Its an absolutely beautiful place. It looks a little low key from the front but once you get in its another world.

On Wednesday night the club was packed with all the beautiful people. There were the power players of New York and their pretty arm pieces throughout the building. There was a live Latin band playing throughout the night and an overall comfortable atmosphere. It was nothing like some of the stuffier places I visited here in Philly and else where around the country. People were enjoying themselves as if they were home with a few friends.

The place recently came under new management. So I am not sure how the club was before. The new manager James (who happens to be a new friend of mine) is very attentive and treats everyone like a VIP. Speaking of VIP's Gov. Richardson of New Mexico was in the place. He's a much bigger guy than what he appears to be on TV during those presidential debates. Anyway... I was really impressed and would definitely recommend a visit when you are in the area. They have an extensive menu of General Cigar products. However you can bring your own if you have a different preference. There was also an extensive spirits menu. The food menu was probably the least extensive of them all but still satisfying. I think I had the biggest piece of salmon I have ever seen and the desserts were out of this world. So it was all good. :D

Club Mac is a fun time.
Funny thing is that last time I was there Gov. Richardson was there too.
He must really like the place!

Not all of them. I was at home.

I went there to celebrate my 30th last year and had a great time. Out of all the indoor places I've smoked, they had the best ventilation system there. You could hardly tell I was sitting around all night smoking cigars. Had a real good time there, and look forward to getting back.

Could you tell us more about the club...ie.

Is it private or membership required?

If not, is there a cover charge?

Dress Code?

Anything else one would need to know to gain entry and also not look like a fool?

I live in GA but get to NYC a lot, and it sounds like a great place to check out.

No cover.
A cutting fee perhaps but I don't think so.

Dress code - colored shirt, no jeans, no sneakers.
It is upscale so you might even want to rock a jacket.

It used to be members only at certain times (earlier) +I think this is no longer the case.

Google Club Macanudo, they have a website you can check out.

I think rob meant collared shirt not colored shirt
There are no memberships required at the NYC location but I believe the Miami location is members only. The NYC location does have nights where they are closed for private parties. They also have humidor rentals for $700 annually or $1000 for two years. I hear having a humidor also gets your some special treatment such as priority for tables for dinner and invites to special events.

Good one. I apologize for miss speaking. MOST of the beautiful people were there.

The the restaurant next door "The Post House" is excellent. A New York landmark restaurant.

There is a "eye of the beholder" comment in here somewhere! :D

I enjoyed my Club Mac visit on a business trip last year. At that time, I paid a $20 fee to enter which was applied to my dinner/cigar/bar bill. I guess this was how they kept out the riff-raff......................well maybe not all of them! ;)

Sounds great, i'll have to stop in next time i'm in NY.

Rob, were you with me when Richardson was there? I have been a member since May I think. You can wear jeans as long as you have dress shoes and a collard shirt, but not many people wear jeans. It is a very relaxed place and the staff gives full attention to all customers. $1000 for 2 years, but you can split the box with another guy ($500 apiece). A membership gets you 10% of the entire bill regardless of how many people or if members or not. Also, as a member you can make reservations, but I found out recently that the public can also except during the colder months when it gets very busy. The Latin band every wednesday is awesome and the food is fantastic, had almost everything on the menu. I recently had a "Little Big Smoke" there on the night of the Big Smoke with several friends from my old company. We decided to keep it more intimate and do our own thing with cigars, steak, booze and also because some guys didnt want to pay the $200. I went to the Big Smoke last year and felt to rsuhed, so this was more relaxing.

Carps,
I think it was the night we met there.
At some point you took off and I stayed and started pounding Scotch?
It was the same night as the Whiskyfest.
