I had the opportunity to visit Club Macanudo in NYC this past wednesday. The place is owned by General Cigar. Its located on 26 East 63 street (between Park and Madison) in New York. Its an absolutely beautiful place. It looks a little low key from the front but once you get in its another world.
On Wednesday night the club was packed with all the beautiful people. There were the power players of New York and their pretty arm pieces throughout the building. There was a live Latin band playing throughout the night and an overall comfortable atmosphere. It was nothing like some of the stuffier places I visited here in Philly and else where around the country. People were enjoying themselves as if they were home with a few friends.
The place recently came under new management. So I am not sure how the club was before. The new manager James (who happens to be a new friend of mine) is very attentive and treats everyone like a VIP. Speaking of VIP's Gov. Richardson of New Mexico was in the place. He's a much bigger guy than what he appears to be on TV during those presidential debates. Anyway... I was really impressed and would definitely recommend a visit when you are in the area. They have an extensive menu of General Cigar products. However you can bring your own if you have a different preference. There was also an extensive spirits menu. The food menu was probably the least extensive of them all but still satisfying. I think I had the biggest piece of salmon I have ever seen and the desserts were out of this world. So it was all good.
