First off, nice community here. I am a 28 y/o Firefighter/paramedic originally from California, now living in NM for the last 3 years. My ol' lady (fiance) is a 21 y/o cop who also enjoys cigars.

I am relatively new to smoking cigars. Sure, Ive smoked them here and there when friends have offered them, but never really paid much interest in them. All I do know, is that I have had some I really liked, and a few that I didn't care much for. I got turned onto them this last Christmas when the ol' lady's uncle showed up and smoked all night. Eventually I got to talking to him and he offered me a cigar. No idea what it was, but I *really* liked it. It was a tad bit sweet. Not sure if it was full bodied or not, as I was a bit inebriated from all the beer and wine. I'll try to give him a ring and find out what exactly it was.

In the mean time, I googled 'the best cheap cigars' and read some reviews about some on the list. The first 5 were described as cigars for experienced smokers and I ended up going with the 1st one on the list, the Saint Luis Rey - Reserva Especial. I like it, but not quite what I am looking for.

What I am looking for now is something that smokes a little sweet, and perhaps a tad bit more mild. I'm not talking flavored, but rather natural sweetness from the tobacco. Any ideas? On a side note, I'll probably order a couple CAO flavored cigars for the ladies when I host poker games.

Now, here is the list of what I just ordered over the weekend after doing some research on here and google. Tell me what you think.

Ashton Prime Minister (Create-A-Sampler Item)

Ashton 8-9-8 (Create-A-Sampler Item)

Ashton Corona

Te Amo Toro (Create-A-Sampler Item)

Private Stock #2 (Create-A-Sampler Item)

Macanudo Hyde Park (Create-A-Sampler Item)

Flor De Oliva 7 X 50 (free with the order)

I would suggest that you add a Padrón 3000 to that list.

x2 on the padron. Also check out the Arturo Fuente hemingway line, Ashton classics, Macanudo (yeah I said it) or for a nice cheaper smoke, the honduran sancho panzas.

^^He speaks the truth. Padron 2000 or 3000. In my opinion, they are the best bang for your buck. My local B&M also has these Hoyo De Monterey seconds, and at $1.50, I don't feel bad about wadding it up in the ash tray when I get to work.

Once again, you can't go wrong with the Padron. ESPECIALLY for the price.

Welcome to CP.
Some good suggestions made already.
Some smokers think that a maduro wrapper tastes sweeter.
I also think that Certain Brazilian Tobaccos are nice in that regard.

The "Dona Flor Mata Fina" is a nice medium Cigar.
You might also consider a "Liga Privada No. 9"

Yeah, don't fall into the whole "darker == stronger" belief. Maduros do taste sweet to me, which I don't care for, so I stay away from them personnally. But a milder cigar with a maduro wrapper may be right up your alley. :)

Welcome to CP, it is truly an amazing place to hang one's hat. You've had some very good suggestions so far and I would start with there. Take notes as you smoke them and note what you like/dislike about each cigar and then return to CP and search out similar cigars. The Review Section is chock full of pictures and thoughts on a staggering variety of cigars. I highly advise you to stick around, fill out your profile and get to CP and let CP get to know you. I guarantee you won't regret doing so, this is a great group of people. If you're anything like me, and God help you if you are, your tastes will change dramatically in a short amount of time. Enjoy the journey!!!

Try the 5 Vegas Gold. They're about $3/cigar and have a nice mild creamy flavor, some hints of sweetness there but not too much.

welcome good sir! i got some Conuco Robustos off Famous for a really decent price, about 2$ a stick on a box. keep an eye out for deals on 'em, i've really been enjoying them as everyday-ers.

Thats a good list. Whenever I'm looking for some sweetness I tend lean towards the Oliva Serie G. It's a Cammeroon wrapper and always satisfies my sweet tooth. I'd try both the G and G maduro, I like the maddie more but give them a try, I think you'll enjoy them!

I had a Cabaiguan Maduro 46 for the first time the other day (thanks, Santa!) and found it to be very chocolaty without being cloying. I'll definitely be repeating the hell out of that one...
