Fidalgo Negro

I saw the Fidalgo Negro in this months CI catalog, inside the back page...

I'm wondering if anyone has smoked these? In the photo and the picture they seem to be the blackest oscuro maduro I've ever seen... Are they cured to be that dark or are they died black or is it just a doctored photo (intentional or not...)?

I've found myself really liking the Maduro's I've smoked, and this is the darkest thing I've ever seen....

I won a five pack on c-bid a few months ago. Thought I would try them.

I was less than impressed. Don't always believe the CI writeups as they are trying to sell. I found the smoke to be thin and reedy without much flavor and they just burned hotter and hotter as I smoked em down. About halfway was the best I could do. Gave last two away at Metrolink station to guys who were smoking White owls.

Do you think they were dyed though?

I have smoked them before. I thought they were nice smokes - mild taste but a smooth flavor. BUT they are dyed. They are as black as the picture but when you're done, so will your lips. :0
