Famous Nic 3000 - old batch

Had one of the 6 x 60's yesterday...I enjoyed it and fully agree with Shadow that they may need some age...
For about 2 bucks a stick, these are great :thumbs:
 
Anyone else had burn problems with these? The three I had all had uneven burns. BUT I did smoke them all on my morning drive, so the windy car could have made the difference?

Nothing MAJOR... A little uneven, nothing a little touch-up couldn't fix.
 
I just received one of the new bundles and the first one I lit up seemed to be wrapped a little loose. Has anyone else noticed this?
 
Sounds like a great smoke for the money. Hopefully it won't take them long to fill the back order.
 
Backorders are in! My bundle of torpedos shipped yesterday, and it looks like all sizes are in except the toro. Sadly, the space I set aside for these in the humi is now filled with AF Hemmingway classics. Gonna have to do some re-organizing and smoking...

The review will have to wait a few weeks, I already have a few reviews on my plate I gotta do first.

IIRC, last time they got these in they sold out again in 48 hours.

Got my bundles today and damn those are pretty good looking smokes, I am impressed. They are down for a nap but I will let you know what I think once they are settled.
 
I guess I'm going to have to go out on a limb and trust they are at least comparable to the old batch. Otherwise, it will be moot because THIS will then be the old batch! :D

P.S. I can't believe how this thread hangs on. A tribute to the popularity of this blend! ;)

Figured I'd post here rather than start a new thread. I'm about halfway through a bundle of presidentes that I got a month or so ago. For the money, these things are awesome. They have a flavor I haven't ever encountered in another cigar, but it's good. Fairly earthy, similar to a milder Camacho, but with that rich Nicaraguan backbone.

I've never found anything in this price range even close, and I reach for them often. These also seem like prime candidates for some aging.

They must be one of the last ones of the old batch. Having tried the new ones now, I can say the new batch is inferior to the older, Oliva X ones. That being said, it is still a pretty good bundle cigar. Just not the phenom the old ones were. And who's to say the next 3000's won't be the best of all. That's the fun of bundled cigars! :D
