Fake Davidoffs?

Relatively new here, so hope this is in the right part of the forum... Apologies in advance for any unintentional screw ups.

What's the prevalence of fake Davidoffs? Left/top side of pics are 100% legit, right/bottom side ones I recently got from a very reputable place. I've never seen 5-packs without the "intensity" markers on the front and back (above the "hecho a Mano", which is missing from the back of the new ones, too). Google seems to be at a loss, as well. Is it as simple as domestic vs foreign packaging? I assumed (hoped) it was to accommodate EU warning labels, which as I understand are ordinarily applied by the retail vendor.

Hoping someone more experienced can chime in, thanks in advance!

Hard to say. The most telling is the "intensity circles," however I have not purchased Davidoff from international sellers so I don't know what differences there may be in Euro packaging vs. US vs. iHavanas, etc. The circles though are pretty standard at this point in time.

The 623500 is consistent for all my Davidoffs as the first six. I checked a bunch of my Doffs and compared barcodes. My No.2 Tubos last three are different from my non-Tubo No.2, but the first three are the same.

"Reputable Dealer" is a hard sell these days if they are from overseas. The are only a handful of non-US retailers I would trust, and only one that is worth going through the trouble, because you end up overpaying when buying from the UK.

Considering that technology has allowed for people to replicate 80% of the Cohiba anti-fake packaging, Davidoff should be relatively easy. Though it's usually VERY obvious. I have seen the photos from fakes in the DR/Caribbean and it's laughable, but also, to people who don't know any better...

I honestly don't really know that much about it, other than buy your Doffs stateside. If you're looking for rare and discontinued stuff, you have to take road trips and visit lond standing, OG Doff retailers. The old B&M shops seem to always have something special hiding in plain sight.

Best of luck!

Appreciate this...

You may have inspired something with the road trip idea...

Hello @WillieGingrichEsq. I reached out to R. Sommer, who i consider an expert in Davidoff cigars. He said do to some legal issues the strength indicators were not going to be used anymore on boxes and packs do to uniformity and legal issues. He did not see anything counterfeit with either box in your pics.

Any chance we can see the cigars side by side?

Very kind, I appreciate you doing that. Would make sense--especially if it's a relatively new change, google images likely wouldn't be caught up.

When I'm back at my humidors later tonight or tomorrow, 100%
